From  The Curragh Racecourse in Counly Kildare,  between the towns of Newbridge and Kildare,  Ireland,   the Elite Racing Club presents its monthly stakes event,  Sea The Stars.  A bit of trivia: the name “Curragh” comes from the Irish (Gaeilge) word Cuirreach, meaning “place of the running horse”.  Five three year old male club runners will battle it out over ten furlongs (or ~ 2000 meters for the locals) for the winner’s share of the $100,000 purse on tap,  and to star in the trophy presentation festivities following the race.  The winning owner/trainer will also collect the lion’s share of the stakes bonus points the club awards at each event,  which will ultimately determine a club champion at year’s end.
.
Harrylan is back in his customary spot as his runner is co-co-favored on the morning line with summerset’s (winterz2) entrant,  the sole gelding in the group;  and donbetonme,  fresh off his rousing ERC Kentucky Derby triumph,  sends out yet another ex-claimer who completes the handicapper’s trio of top choices.  ERC honcho jbcri has one of the two stakes winners in the field,  and johnkarczewski saddles a maiden making just his second start off an impressive runnerup debut.
.
A small but competitive group;  should be an interesting heat.  Let’s take a closer look at them in post position order and see what the figures show.

DAMODARA                                                    JPN     3M     johnkarczewski62     M Tippett     6/1
.
Scratch bred Daiwa Major dude (by Miswaki) was a fast closing 2nd in his debut in a maiden hot race at 9 furlongs,  flashing an 87 SP# moving from last of ten.  Back stretch chatter says the imposing chestnut colt has been kicking down the stall walls;  distance should suit,  owner/trainer johnkarczewski has quickly proven to be a major player in these ERC events,  could surprise with usual improvement.

REDOUTE’S  CADET                                  AUS     3G     winterz2         J Diggs         2/1
.
$75,000 claim was a well beaten 5th in latest,  a local bred allowance at 9.5 furlongs,  bagging a 94 SP# showing a little late interest behind a runaway winner.  Redoute’s Choice ripper,  out of the aim mare Sheldon Square (by Majestic Warrior) ran off with a local bred allowance at 9 panels one before that,  banging a 92 SP# in a stretch running score.  In his prior start,  he broke his maiden at 8.5 furlongs in another local bred race,  bashing a 91 SP# from way back in the pack.  Late closer from the winterz2 barn of the summerset operation will need a quick pace up front to set up his late kick;  handicapper likes his chances as one of the three co-favorites.

HEARTLESS  SHOOTER                          AUS     3M     jbcri7             T Monk     5/1
.
Bay colt exits a stalking score in the Ball Ban listed stakes at 8.5 furlongs,  smacking a 94 SP# for his first stakes win.  Son of Shooting To Win,  out of the sim mare Heartless Bimbo (by Heart’s Cry),  won a NW3x allowance at 7.5 panels one before that,  slashing s 79 SP# tracking the pace setter.  He was an even 4th in his prior try in the Wooden Head listed at 7.5 furlongs,  slashing an 88 SP#.  Jbcri7 protege should be close to the early pace,  will try to out jump the deep closers in the race to the wire.

FRANKEL’S  TAXES                                    ENG     3M     harrylanlow38         D McKane     2/1
.
Speedster from the harrylanlow38 stable wired a local bred allowance in latest at 9.5 furlongs,  sizzling a 98 SP# in a runaway victory.  Scratch bred Frankel fella (by Kingmambo) settled for 2nd one back of that after making all the pace in a NW2L allowance at 9 panels,  sticking a 90 SP#.  Bay colt broke his maiden in his previous outing at a mile,  snaring an 80 SP# in a pace pressing performance.  Likely pace setter could cruise to an easy lead and take catching in short field devoid of early speed;  very dangerous co-co-favorite.

VOISINS  DU  ZERO                                     JPN     3M     dontbetonme2         W Moxley     2/1
.
Watching them all exit the paddock is yet another successful claim from the dontbetonme2 racing group, this one for  $100,000.  Brown colt has won five of nine since then;  last out he was 3rd in a hot race allowance at 9.5 furlongs,  getting an 86 SP# in his only try on dirt.  Casino Drive customer,  out of the stakes winning sim mare Jungle Miesque Tos (by Harlan’s Holiday),  was a close 4th one back of that in the Party On listed stakes at 6.5 panels,  sticking a 95 SP# in a mid pack trip.  He won the February ERC event,  Frankel,  in his prior run,  sizzling a 99 SP# for his 2nd stakes victory.  Returns to the green here,  should be tracking the pace setters and try to get first run on the late comers as one of the three favorites.
