A field of ten Two-Year Old Colts will enter the New York starting gate in the $100,000 ESR Champagne Reflection.  The Residency feature will be run at One Mile over the Dirt Course.

TWIST OF EVIL – the casino trained 2-Year Old Bay Colt by Hard Spun out of a Medaglia D’oro mare has posted a perfect record in his two career starts; drew away in a gate to wire Allowance victory in his  first appearance around two turns LTO; his 85-speed figure in that win is tops in this field for horses that have raced a distance of ground, and while he may meet some resistance on the front end from his sprinting rivals, he has clearly established himself as the horse to catch in this ESR feature…one to beat

EL PICAFLOR – first of two from the ivanyamil racing stables, this a regally bred son of Tapit out of the Stakes winning MCLAREN VALE (Gone West), Dam to the G1 winning EDEN VALLEY and G2 winning ELLERTON COMMAND; the 2-Year Old Roan Colt has improved his speed figures with each start, but has been unable to find the winner’s circle since his debut victory; best start came in his last outing when he posted a career best 84-speed figure in his first start around two turns, and if he continues his progression, could prove much the best here on Saturday…never better

KID ADAL – you have to like what you’ve seen from this Ohio bred son of Kiss the Kid out of a Pulpit x Ajdal mare; the 2-Year Old Bay Colt representing the aladar racing stables brings a perfect two for two record into this ESR feature, and his runaway Allowance victory LTO was supported by an eye-catching 85-speed figure makes him a tough opponent in his first stakes appearance; meets tougher here and will have to contend with the front running TWIST OF EVIL should he decide to challenge early, but this is a nice two-year old with a lot of upside…might be this good

TRISTAN’S SWORD – regal scratch bred 2-Year Old Bay Colt by Distorted Humor out of a Storm Cat x Kris S. mare makes his stakes debut for the trotter1 racing stables; established himself around two turns with a MSW victory in his racing debut, but failed to fire as the favorite in his last start at a mile facing weaker; pedigree says yes, but he will have to step things up to be a factor in the feature…chance off best

ACT OF TERROR – the 2-Year Old Bay Colt by Violence out of the multi-stakes producing mare RADAR LOVE (Fusaichi Pegasus), Dam to G3 winner EPIC DUEL, makes his first start going around two turns; impressive in his first two starts, the nextbonus trained KY bred will have to overcome a family history of sprinters, but connections are hopeful his sires’ influences helps him endure the added distance…last ‘horse’ to pass, here I go

SO GOLD – the 2-Year Old Bay Colt by Uncle Mo is the first foal out of the stakes winning mare MISTRESS D’ORO (Medaglia D’oro), is racing under the five-point crown of the red hot kingab racing stables; the KY bred was a convincing winner in his last start, a win in MSW company going 7-furlongs produced a fields best 87-speed figure; Dam posted triple digits in 22 of 28 career starts indicating this colt is well within his ability of duplicating those figures moving forward; should have little trouble handling the added distance putting this field on high alert…dangerous

EL MADAMO – the second of the ivanyamil entry, the 2-Year Old Roan Colt by Liam’s Map out of the multi-stakes producing mare DANCING QUEENY (Kingmambo), Dam of G3 winner SHOULDN’T MATTER, enters this field following his best start, a MSW win in his first start going around two turns; perhaps the weaker of the entry, but his considerable improvement with the added ground could be just a tip of the iceberg and is certainly capable of repeating here based on his family tree…might surprise

INDUSTRIAL LITE – high marks awarded to the 2-Year Old Bay Gelding by Lite the Fuse out of the stakes placed mare FB TWICE (Twice Over); the awkwardandchai trained PA bred ran down the leaders in deep stretch to be an upset winner in the ESR I’ve Been Waiting So Long Mile; meets a similar pace scenario in the Saturday feature and should have a say in the outcome once again…main rival

KING CANDY CADET – surprising entry from the residencies top trainer, but the cadet connections must have been really impressed with the debut of this 2-Year Old Brown Colt by Twirling Candy to ship him in from New Zealand for the Rez feature; the first foal from the stakes placed TURTLE CADET (Animal Kingdom) faces a tough task here on Saturday coming off a Maiden Claiming victory; coming off the slowest last race in the field with a 71 speed figure, the KY bred will have to improve almost 20 speed figure points to be a factor with these…in tough

PUNKIN’S A HERO – 2-Year Old Light Grey Colt by Constitution out of the stakes placed HALF OF A HERO (Half Ours) races under the colors of the ace racing stables; the lone maiden in the field was impressive in his debut when gaining ground in deep stretch to finish a well-meant third against a talented field of 2 yo’s in the ESR I’ve Been Waiting So Long Mile; should benefit greatly from that effort while standing on equal ground against winners…happy with part
