The Elite Racing Club goes to PARX racino outside Philadelphia,  in Bensalem,  PA for its monthly stakes event,  the More Than  Ready.  A field of eight freshman club runners,  including a trio of upstart fillies,   will battle it out at five furlongs (or ~1000 meters for those metrically inclined) for the winner’s share of the $100,000 purse on tap,  and to collect the lion’s share of stakes bonus points the club awards that will eventually determine a club champion.
.
Fresh off a nice 3rd at 21/1 in the ERC Ky Derby,  dunnvilledowns saddles the current third ranked two year old in hid division,  DRAOI THABHAIRT.  Derby winning trainer harrylan sends out FLAT FAP off a runnerup effort over the poly track,  while jbcri09 has one of the fillies here,  a two for two on the poly winner,  BY YA NOW.  Derby runnerup summerset has the morning line favorite,  SECURE THE CATCH,  a colt by this race’s namesake;  amir has 3rd choice CLIMATE FEVER hot to trot;  jb3commish has a contender (finally) in AN OBSESSION;  dontbetonme’s filly CARSON CITY NINER could surprise,  and newfydowns sends out first time starter ROUGH CHROME.
.
Should be an interesting event – which baby can further their owner’s Derby dreams ?  Let’s take a closer look at them in post position order and see what we may see.

1
SECURE THE CATCH                             KY     2M     rac2             A Scheper         5/2
.
More Than Ready mister leads them on to the track off a fast closing 2nd at 5.5 panels in a NW2L,  snatching s 72 SP#.  Light grey colt broke his maiden at 4.5f in similar fahion,  snaring a 73 SP# in his debut.  Stretch threat from summerset has lagged early,  needs good trip from the rail.

 AN OBSESSION                                           IRE     2F     jb3commish         T Parker         9/2
.
Roan filly was an even 3rd last out at six furlongs,  tossing a 63 SP#.  Zoffany zipper won opener on an off track also at  three quarters of a mile,  tabbing a 67 SP# in a pace pressing run against males.  Jb3commish trainee should be in the early mix,  eligible to be in the picture dropping back in distance.

DRAOI THABHAIRT                                NZ     2M     albertdowns         M Imahoff         7/1
.
Seeks 3rd straight at this distance after a solid score in the Azerley listed,  whacking a 75 SP# after dueling on the front.  Contributor colt took debut almost exactly the same way,  wrangling a 69 SP#.  Third ranked in his division,  runner from albertdowns barn the one to beat.

BY YA NOW                                                       ID     2F     jbcri81             N Ambrose         30/1
.
Brown filly is two for two over the poly,  prevailing in a $75k claimer at this trip,  etching a 60 SP# from mid pack.  Coming By Ya cutie won first out in a hot race at this distance, eking out a 59 SP#.  Likes the surface,  but others may be faster than this jbcri81 protege.

ROUGH CHROME                                       KY     2M     newfydowns         H Wheatley         11/1
.
Newfydowns sends out this bay California Chrome cutup in an ERC stakes first out of the box ;  colt has reportedly been a handful in AM trials,  maybe he got his daddy’s speed – we’ll see.

 FLAT FAP                                                            KY     2M     harrylanlow52         T Sterling         3/1
.
Flatter fella was a tenacious 2nd in first run at 4.5 panels over the poly,  sticking a 66 SP# after dueling throughout.  Handicapper’s second choice from the harrylanlow52 stable should have a say in the early fractions,  solid contender.

CLIMATE FEVER                                       JPN     2M     amir1653         D Cameron         7/2
.
Amir1653 saddles this Orfevre colt off an impressive maiden score at 4.5f ,  cashing a 71 SP# from way back.  Just missed first time out against winners at 4.5f,  copping a 72 SP# moving from last of twelve.  Extra trip helps here,  looks like he gets a pace to chase,  right there on best.

CARSON CITY NINER                           JPN     2F     dontbetonme12     R Wilson         7/1
.
Chestnut filly tries the poly off her first win  at 5.5f on dirt,  flinging a 67 SP# from the back. Along late for 2nd iin his initial outing at 4.5f,  flipping a 65 SP# with similar run.  Could be along late to challenge in the lane,  as she gets her favorable pace scenario for the donbetonme12 barn.

Good luck everybody,  and may they all come home fast,  safe , and sound.
