FRANCUA CHRONICLES 7-5-18 THROUGH 7-11-2018
Ridiculously busy week in the sim as we have 50 plus runners go making this by far my busiest week since I started play. There’s quite a few new 2 year-olds debuting this week along with some decent claimers going.
52 -6-6-6 (11.5% Win and 34% ITM)
Last Week’s Watch List:
WAKANDA SOHO (SEBRING x UNBRIDLED’S SONG x A.P. INDY) –
PERFECT PALACE (PALICE MALICE x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY x ELA-MANA-MOU) – The switch to turf didn’t make him better, but it also didn’t make him worse either. He’d finish ITM for the first time in his young career going 7 furlongs. I’m under the impression he’s going to want more and more distance as time goes on.
VIOLENT FRENZY (VIOLENCE x DANZIG x MR. PROSPECTOR) – She came into her race as the 3/2 ML favorite which is usually a bad indicator for my horses. However, she’d end up running to her in a 5.5 furlong dirt sprint against maiden 22K’s that saw her wire the field.
KILLER SHAKE – I bought this 4 year old gelding in the auction for a $1 and he’s done nothing but produce for me. He started his career in 15K NW2L claimers running a second place finish followed by a bump to 75K NW2L’s in which he’d stalk and close for the victory. In his most recent I gave him a bump to 100K NW3L’s and he stalked the pace to get his 2nd win in a row and posted a career high 95 speed fig. Probably going to give him a shot with allowance company in his next race.
ESPIRI (IRONICUS x CHARM SPIRIT (IRE) x EXCELLENT ART) – Won his debut back in May and I wheeled him back with Allowance NW2L 39K’s. He went on to run another great race closing from 5 lengths off the pace and running away from the field for back to back victories.
STRIKE PAY DIRT (BERNARDINI x SMART STRIKE x WILD AGAIN) – Won a BERNARDINI share late last week and bred this guy. I entered him a 6 furlong dirt maiden 56K and he won for fun wiring the field while posting a 79 speed fig in the debut.
BECAUSE REASONS (SPEIGHTSTOWN x UNBRIDLED x GREEN DESERT) – He came out of the same race as STRIKE PAY DIRT and while he wasn’t a match for his stablemate he did run a great race and finish 2nd. I’ll probably stretch him out a bit in his next as he seemed to really get going later in the race.
GET TO KNEW HIM – I claimed this guy for $6,250 back in March and he’s been a consistent runner for me in the low level claimers. Most recently he’d get a victory in a 4.5 furlong NW2L 4K claimer that saw him stalk and just get up for the victory. He’s run 4 times with me posting a record of 4-1-1-2 and has earned $6,360 and 57 BPs.
WINDY CURRENT (WINDSOR PALACE (IRE) x KING’S EMPIRE x RED ROCKS) – Gave this guy a bit more distance in his 2nd attempt and he didn’t disappoint. At odds of 28-1 he’d stalk the pace and run past the leaders to get up by about a length for the victory.
CLEVAR GIRL (SUPER SAVER x UNBRIDLED x A.P. INDY) – I was having difficulty getting this 3 year old over the hump and was running out of ideas for her. However, thanks to the advice of another player I tried her on the dirt at 7 furlongs and got some better results. She didn’t win the race but was within range to and would finish 2nd. Thanks to Irish for the suggestion!
LET’S PLAY HOUSE (DELCARATION OF WAR x KRIS x SIR IVOR) – She had a pretty impressive debut going 6.5 furlongs that saw her finish a game 3rd. As a result I brought her back at the same class level and cut the distance to 6 furlongs and watched her wire the field.
SYDNEY RAIN OS (MANHATTAN RAIN (AUS) x LONHRO x DYNAFORMER) – She didn’t get the win but ran very well in the debut finishing a nice 3rd against maiden 22K’s on the turf going 6 furlongs. I think the 6 furlong distance suits her pretty well for the moment and will more than likely wheel her back there.
DARING PHANTOM (OPERA HOUSE x STRATUM (AUS) x STORM CREEK) – Talk about a kick in the nuts… with about 100 yards to go she held the lead only to get nipped at the wire and finish 2nd in her debut by .01 seconds! She’s a pretty cool story for me as she is out of one of the original horses I started with (KIWI STRATUM). Her mother wasn’t much on the track as she went to the gate 23 times with a record of 1-1-4 for $71K in earnings, but its nice to be able to still get production from a free horse.
SHEER SPITE (SMARTY JONES x TALE OF THE CAT x LANGFUHR) – Super disappointing run to start her career as she’d only get a 47 speed fig in 9 length loss against maiden 22K’s going 5.5 furlongs. I certainly wasn’t expecting this type of performance from her and will probably give her a switch to turf to see if she improves at all.
FLIP THE THIRD (FLATTER x EL PRADO x CEE’S TIZZY) – She looked out of sorts on the dirt and pretty much called it a day as they hit the turn. She’d finish 10th by 10 lengths posting a 58 speed fig which leads me to believe she may just need a surface switch.
GRIZZLED WAR VET (TO HONOR AND SERVE x FUSAICHI PEGASUS x SCAT DADDY) – Well that went poorly… Didn’t do much running in her debut going 6 furlongs on the dirt so we gave turf a shot and she decided she’d go for a light jog as the rest of the field ran on. Since she regressed on the turf its back to the dirt for her and we’ll see if routing works.
SILENT ZIPPER (ZIP IT UP x PARADE LEADER x READY’S IMAGE) – I guess you can say he ran better on the turf than he did on the dirt but that’s not really saying much. He’s post a 51 speed fig in a 10 length loss against 30K MC’s.
FOR ALL KINGS (DANZA x VINDICATION x UNBRIDLED) – Gave him a go on the turf at 7.5 furlongs and he made a little move between the 2nd and 3rd call but ultimately faded in the stretch. I don’t really think he cared for the surface so I’ll bring him back to dirt and see if he enjoys routing.
QUIRE BOY (PADDY O’PRADO x CEE’S TIZZY x HOUSEBUSTER) – Ugly, ugly debut as this guy would show speed the first two calls before fading into oblivion and finishing 10th by 15 lengths. The speed fig of 51 wasn’t very encouraging either, so maybe he gets a witch to dirt and a likely class cut.
PUB KING (KING KAMEHAMEHA x COZZENE x KONIGSSTUHL) – I had high hopes for this fellow coming into his debut and man did he let me down. Running against maiden 11K’s on the turf going 7 furlongs he never really got into the race. He’d go on to finish 11th out of a 12 horse field and post a 57 speed fig. I’m probably going to go ahead and give him a run on dirt in his next to see if we can get the speed fig into the mid 60’s.
Next Week’s Watchlist:
GONNA GET FREE (HARD SPUN x GONE WEST x TIZNOW) – Him and I haven’t been seeing eye to eye so I sent him to the barn back in May hoping he matures a bit. After about a 10 week hiatus he’s coming back to see if we can pop his cherry. If he doesn’t show improvement it may be time to give him the old snip.
THE MARVELOUS ONE (ITSMYLUCKYDAY x A.P. DELTA x STREET HERO) – Finally got this 3 year old over the hump in his 5th try last time out. He’ll try allowance NW2L’s at the 48K level going 12 furlongs on the dirt.
HONORED SOCIETY (CALIFORNIA CHROME x DUNKIRK x MACHIAVELLIAN) – This is his 3rd crack on the dirt and he’s getting an extra furlong to run into as compared to his last attempt at 6.5. He remains on the dirt and we will see if he can pick up the pieces like his running style suggests.
SOUL SERGEANT – I claimed this guy for 17k and throughout his career he’s never tried routing. The ability to route looks to be there on the back end of his pedigree but I may have picked to difficult a spot for him as we are going into an NW4Y 24K allowance event against the likes of some pretty talented horses including the G2 winner CRAWLING CLAW.
Debuting 2-year olds
JESTER’S DANCE (DAIWA MAJOR x DANEHILL DANCER x SMART STRIKE) – Running with Maiden 56K’s on the turf going 7 furlongs.
UNCLE PEACHES (UNCLE MO x UNBRIDLED’S SONG x DEPUTY MINISTER) – Another random share I won on UNCLE MO so I went ahead and bred. He’ll debut his career going 6 furlongs on the dirt with maiden 56K’s.
GIN AND ICE (OLD FASHIONED x ROCK HARD TEN x HARLAN’S HOLIDAY) – She’ll debut with maiden 33K’s going 6 furlongs on the dirt.
HOLIDAY ROYALE (VERRAZANO x WILD AGAIN x SIR IVOR) – Starts his career going 7 furlongs with maiden 16K’s on the dirt.
