The Challenge-Week 48

Week 48 looked like I’d have about 5 runners entered and as it turned out only tow got entered.  The others will be running this coming week with maybe two others.    VYZA FRANCE stayed in the $7,500 claiming ranks looking to repeat his winning performance she had back in October but at a furlong less at 6 furlongs this time.  The even money favorite in the ultra small 4 horse field ran well early, a very close up third but could not hold that standing and despite finishing second was over a length behind at the wire.  A speed drop from 94 to 89 occurred and I’ll be sending her to the farm as the year is coming to a close soon and I may have better opportunity bringing up one of the rested horses.  She earned 17 BP’s and a G-sire card.

Long distance and multi-surface runner RESERVATION FOR ME made his sixth start for the stable and was entered into a turf, 13 furlong starter allowance race this week, switching from the dirt.  He’s done well on both surfaces and can also perform on an off-track.   Like his stablemate Vyza France (above), he also somehow ended up in a four horse field and was also the even money choice.   For the first time since mid-2016, he went to the front and cut all the early fractions.   He generally sits off the lead and with no direction from me, was the early leader and it was a bit concerning whether he could stay there.   He built a 5 length lead and was able to hold on and cruised to the wire with a 95 speed and a 4 stride victory!   This was his second straight win and he’s won three times with two seconds for the stable.  The win came with 22 BP’s and a pair of G-cards

With Yvza France being carted to the farm, the vacancy is being filled with 2-year old A Thousand Joys.  This is the runner that was bred using sire cards after striking the 1,000 BP total that the Challenge series was originally pursuing.  This filly has made two starts, the first being beat in the stretch and losing by a tiny margin and then breaking her maiden in a moderate claiming allowance, the win also by a tiny margin.  She’ll train for a week or two and pursue something in the NW2L conditions.

So, we earned 3 G-cards which adds to the 7 already on hand, giving a total of 10.  I’ve swapped them upward for 2 F-cards.  That give a total holdings of 2 E cards and 3 F cards.  What the heck..I’ll use them now.   2 E’s and 2 F’s have been used for a 2 year old and coming out was a filly that has been named HOLIDAYS ARE HERE .  The breading line consists of Dublin x Kheleyf x Konigsstuhl.  A bit of a tongue twister lineage.   Nothing exciting here but we’ll farm her.  After this coming week, we’ll probably shuffle some more horses to the farm and bring this one up, just in time for the holidays!

As for BP’s, 39 were picked  up this week giving the stable a total of 323.    The target is to get something decent at the end of week 52 with whatever we have accumulated.  Right now, Tanino Gimlet could be obtained for about 308.  With four weeks to go, we could pick up another 100 or more BP’s if things go our way, maybe even more!!
