From Meydan Racecourse in Dubai,  UAE,  the Elite Racing Club presents this month’s stakes event,  the Kingmambo.  A field of eight sophomore club runners,  including an upset minded filly, will travel nine furlongs (or ~ 1800 meters for the metric folks) over what should be a firm turf oval,  vying for the winner’s share of the $100,000 purse up for grabs.  As usual,  the winning trainer will collect the majority of the stakes bonus points that go to determining a club champion at year’s end.  Jbcri sits on top of the leader board at this early juncture,  while mightyforego and amir,  who both pass on entering hereround out the top three.
.
Jbcri is lookin’ good again with the fleet HAND OF MERCY  drawing morning line favoritiam;  reigning champ harrylan saddles second choice REGISTERFORACHANCE while dontbetonme sends out third choice DUBAI DABIRSIM,  who may get the backing of the locals identifying with his name.  Summerset’s LYME TIME gets fourth billing on the morning line;  larrcamp’s GENERAL BRAGS and dunnvilledowns‘ TUHINGA O MUA share the handicapper’s fifth rating.  Longshots BUZZIDENT TWO from newfydowns and jb3sheri’s BUCKLAND GOLD round out the field.
.
Can jbcri extend his early lead with the main speed,  or will one of the late runners sweep by in the straight ?  Let’s take a closer look at them in post position order and see what the figures may reveal.

 DUBAI DABIRSIM                                     FR     3M     dontbetonme4     M Hull            4/1

Heading up the post parade is this bruising bay colt who took a NW2L allowance at this route last time over,  smoking a 94 SP# from the back of the pack.  Scratch bred Dabirsim dude (by Irish River) got 2nd one back of that in a local bred allowance st 8.5 panels,  smacking a 93 SP# after moving from  last of ten early.  In his prior try he showed some late foot for 4th in a NW2L allowance at 8.5 furlongs,  sticking an 83 SP#.  Runner from the always dangerous dontbetonme4 racing operation can save ground early from the rail,  should be charging late down the lane;  handicapper rates him as the 3rd choice on the morning line.

.
Speedster from club co-founder jbcri73′s barn got the money last out in a NW2L allowance at a mile,  blasting a 98 SP# after prompting the early fractions.  Boisterous bay colt settled for 2nd one before that in the same condition at 7 furlongs,  banking an 87 SP# setting the early pace.  Scratch bred Teofilo toughie (by Danzig) got caught late when 2nd in the Medieval Cat listed stakes in his previous outing,  bashing an 85 SP# in his first stakes try.  Looks to be the fastest of the early speed types,  could get an easy lead and show them his heels through the stretch;  handicapper likes his chances as the 3/1 morning line favorite.

 TUHINGA O MUA                                      NZ     3M     albertdowns         Q Cassell         6/1
.
Tavistock tripper,  out of the sim mare Storm And Sunshine (by Aloha),  was 2nd in latest,  an open allowance at three-quarters of a mile,  whacking a 91 SP# after a pace duel in his seasonal debut.  Blazing bay colt was 2nd one before that in a NW2L allowance at 7 furlongs,  wrangling an 88 SP# in a stalking trip.  He tired to 6th in his prior start in the club’s Redoute’s Choice at 8.5 panels,  whipping an 85 SP#  though never a threat.  Runner from the albertdowns barn of the dunnvilledowns racing group could be an early pace factor,  but can he hang on in the sprint home to the wire ?

GENERAL BRAGS                                      IRE     3M     larrcamp1         M Perez         6/1
.
Owner/trainer larrcamp returns to the ERC wars with this big bay colt,  who exits a fast closing 2nd in a local bred allowance at this trip,  garnering an 89 SP# in a mid pack run.  Scratch bred Zoffany zipper (by Red Ransom) tired to 4th after an early pace duel one back of that in a local bred allowance at 8.5 panels,  getting an 82 SP#.  He was an even 5th in his previous start in the club’s Redoute’s Choice at 8.5 panels ,  grabbing an 88 SP# in his first stakes attempt.  Looks like he’ll be in the second flight with this group,  will try to get the jump on the deep closers in the run to the wire.

BUCKLAND GOLD                                    NM     3M     jb3sheri         P Kinchen         19/1
.
Buckland Manor babalu,  out of the sim mare Golden Plough (by Sinndar),  has won two of three since being claimed in his debut,  the latest a last to first score in a local bred $75,000 claimer at  mile,  popping an 87 SP#.  Bucking bay colt was an even 3rd one before that in a local bred $50,000 claimer at 7 furlongs,  pasting a 75 SP# though not a threat.  He won first off the claim in a $12,500 claimer at 6.5 panels,  posting a 68 SP# after trailing early.  Improving sort from the jb3sheri racing group stretches out,  but faces some tough customers – thus getting no love from the handicapper as the 19/1 rank outsider in this heat.

BUZZIDENT TWO                                      AUS     3F     ohcanada         S Chesnut          13/1
.
Gleaming chestnut filly tries the boys again off an excellent runner up outing in the Ledge Lockett listed stakes at 5.5 panels,  drilling an 85 SP# after getting to the front turning for home.  Dissident duchess,  out of the sim mare Buzzed Reality (by Distorted Reality) tired to 2nd one back of that in the Absolut Ego listed at 7 furlongs,  dropping an 83 SP# setting all the early pace.  She was over matched in one prior in her first try against males when 12th in a rez stakes at 7.5 furlongs,  drawing a 76 SP# after showing some early foot.  Runner from the ohcanada barn of the newfydowns racing stable may help to liven the early pace,  but stretches way out here and will be hard pressed to keep up when the real running starts.

Galileo guy,  based on the stakes placed sim he-mare Illegal Impact (by Deep Impact) comes off a stretch running score in a NW2L allowance at 8.5 furlongs,  sizzling a 92 SP# from the back of the pack.  Brawny bay colt was a dogged 2nd one back of that in the same condition at a mile,  stabbing a 90 SP# while much closer to the front than usual.  He got his first win in his previous outing in an open maiden at 7.5 panels,  sticking an 82 SP# from mid pack.  Harrylan9 protege makes his seasonal debut here,  should like the trip;  handicapper gives him big shot as the second choice at 7/2 on the morning line.

LYME TIME                                                      KY     3M     claimerz4         C Wiedner          9/2
.
Last out on to the course is this strapping bay colt,  who got his 2019 campaign off on a winning note,  taking an open allowance at a mile,  floating an 88 SP# in a four horse affair.  Karakontie kut up out of the sim mare Nates Girl (by Nathaniel) showed some late life when 5th one before that in the Craft Shuffling listed stakes at 7.5 panels,  flashing a 90 SP# from well back in the pack.  He won a NW4L allowance at 7 furlongs in his prior outing,  flinging a 90 SP# on a “good”surface.  Summerset trainee out of his claimerz24 barn looks like he’ll appreciate the extra trip here,  could be sitting on a big effort;  likes to win,  stretch threat.

  1. Good luck all!

  2. Ric thanks for another well done preview for the Rez

    Good luck everbody

  3. Thanks Ric, for the awesome coverage of all these rez races! Good luck, guys!

  4. Thanks ric for another great write up! Thanks also to jb for all you do for erc. In the 4 years I have had the pleasure of being a member of erc, there have been at least a half a dozen races in which the jb entry is “lone speed’. Today is deja vu. I think he always wins when this happens. In any event good luck to all entries!

  5. Thanks Ric, good luck to everybody.
