After a poor week last week, the bad luck flowed into this week but a turnaround may be on the horizon. Three horses went racing this week, although I was hopeful for four. CHUANDONGOELURUS sought his third straight win the the stable and ran in a $15,000 starter allowance at 7 furlongs. This was a slight drop in distance from the 7.5 furlongs in his last two races, so that was not a big deal. The $15,000 tag price was up quite a bit from the $5,000 in his two wins. He was sent off at 4/1 odds which made him a prospect in the race. The late closer got off 6th in the 9 horse field, which was about where he normally would be. But making it past the halfway point, he refused to move and descended back to 8th and that is where he would finish, some 8 strides behind and a drop in speed to 85. He’ll be heading to the farm for a refreshing break. No BP’s this week and got some luck with an F-card.
SHAUNS STORM returned to racing after a two and a half month stint at the farm. This guy has been with the stable for 11 months and made his 11th start. He took on a field of 13 in a $6,250 claiming race at a distance of 7.5 furlongs on the dirt track. He ran flat through the entire race and an 8th place finish was all his. He has a record of 2-4-0 with the stable and I’ll give him one more shot, hoping the 2nd start after a break will provide some benefit and the focus will probably be placing him back on the turf. Another zippo BP result and one G-card.
After two 8th place finishes, things changed. RESERVATION FOR ME hit the track as the 1/5 favorite in a long 14 furlong starter allowance ($15,000 tag). He settled in to the second slot in the mini-four horse field and enjoyed the relaxed early pace. He had no issue moving to the front after going about a mile and galloped to an easy 6 length win. He is another runner who has been with the stable for 11 months and after completing his 10th race, he now has a record of 5-3-0. 22 BP’s were actually earned on this runner with two sire cards coming with the win. A nice turn of the cards with an E and a G card earned.
The week wrapped up with 22 BP’s, and a better draw with the sire cards: 1-E, 1-F and 2-G. Adding to the cards already on hand, the G’s total 5, so they get exchanged for another F. The E cards now total 5, so they trade up to a D card. After all the exchanges, the cards now tally: 3-D, 1-F. BP’s end the week at 1,083.
At the current moment, the farm does not have any horses ready to move into the stable so filling the vacancy spot of Chuandongoelurus will wait for now.
