Distance: 8 Furlongs
Surface: Firm Turf
Post Time: Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 3:00pm
I have been wishing to return to the lovely views and history of England. So I thought I would kind of make this into a little working vacation. So during my visit here I took a break from doing the tourist thing and headed to Berkshire, England where thoroughbred horsing racing is of great prestige and popularity. I saw this Grade 1 race for 3 year old fillies on the card and saw that a nice field of fourteen, well decorated horses was entered, so this is the race I felt needed a little attention. The turf is looking good and listed as Firm for this Saturday’s race. The morning air a little brisk today as I watched several horses getting in a little exercise out on the track. I headed over to the barns to check out the horses and speak with some of the jockeys and owners of these nicely groomed fillies. The odds have been set for the morning line and post positions drawn. Let us take a preview of this nice group of fillies that will take to the turf here in Berkshire for The Cremation Stakes this Saturday.
Horse/Odds Owner Jockey
1. Ideal Match 8/1 futurestar B Ball
This Bay filly will be headed out to represent the Pastures of Green residency at post time and will have jockey, B Ball flying in from China to take the ride with her around the mile long turf. She is sired by American Pharoah and collected a G3 win in her last outing on 05/05/2019 traveling the same distance in California in The Great Woman Stakes where she got up for the win by 2 ½ lengths. She will be taking a jump in Class and has traveled a long distance to get here to Berkshire, but she is looking ready to contend.
2. Paradise Dreams 11/1 jollymon V Reed
A jockey very familiar to this filly in V Reed will be up top again for this ride as he comes in from Germany at the owner’s request. This filly is sired by Gleneagles and is a prior G1 winner. In her last outing on 04/28/2019 at Newmarket she ran 8 furlongs in the G1, The 1000 Guineas and showed up to the wire 3rd as she was making a good closing effort. Prior to that race in Newmarket she had five wins in a row at the Allowance and Graded Stakes levels. One of those wins came back in December of last year in the G1, The Juvenile Filly in Japan. She has eight career starts and has only been off the boards once and you would have to look back to July of last year to find it. This Bay filly will be representing the European Union Racing Organization at post time.
3. Aero 13/1 tfon35 B Doherty
This Brown filly sired by Duramente picked up a nice G1 win back on 02/16/2019 when she traveled 9 furlongs in the Vermont Is 4 Lovers Stakes in Vermont. Since then in her last two outings she has missed the boards at the G1 level, but she was giving good effort. She will have a familiar jockey in B Doherty up top traveling in from India. She will be heading to the gate at post time representing the Sherwood Forest residency.
4. Babygirli’mblue 9/1 posttime R Whisper
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Obviously this Bay filly sired by Frankel does, but she will not go off as the favorite in this race according to the odds makers and their morning line. She is coming off five straight wins in a row, two of the wins coming at the Graded level. Her last outing came in Newmarket going 8 furlongs in the G1, The 1000 Guineas of which she got up nice to win by 1 length at the wire. Jockey, R Whisper from Surrey was on top that day and he will be again taking the ride with her here in Berkshire. I feel she should not be overlooked in this race. She looks ready to contend and will be representing The Minnesota Testbarn Residency as she takes to the gate on Saturday.
5. Clarehaven 7/1 grenoble1 C Matas
This Bay filly sired by Giant’s Causeway will be one of the two co-favorites at post time. She will be picking up local jockey C Matas to take her around the turf on Saturday. She had a nice outing in her last trip to the track in Ireland on 05/19/2010 when she went 8 furlongs in the G1, The Irish 1000 Guineas. She got up 1st at the wire by 1 ¼ lengths and headed to the winners circle to get her picture taken and awarded her G1 badge. She has eight career starts and has only missed the boards once and you would have to look back to June 2018 to find it. She has steadily improved her speed ratings with each outing and looks ready to contend here in Berkshire as her owner takes her out to represent the Universal Racing Club at post time.
6. Widow Of Justice 7/1 stupor1 Z Kentucky
This Frankel filly will be our other co-favorite in the field, but she showed up 4th at the wire behind Clarehaven in her last outing on 05/19/2019 in the G1, The Irish 1000 Guineas. She looks for revenge and redemption here in Berkshire as her owner calls in jockey, Z Kentucky from Ireland to take the irons up top of his Bay filly. She is a prior G3 winner and earned that badge back on 04/27/2019 in Denmark in the Danish 1000 Guineas. At post time she will be heading to the gate to represent the GR Simsters residency.
7. Lone Saddle 13/1 brayden D Evans
Jockey, D Evans from Victoria gets the call again to take the mount on this Brown filly sired by Lonhro. They paired up together in this filly’s last outing on 04/28/2019 in Newmarket in the G1, The 1000 Guineas. They did not fare well in that race together when they crossed the wire 8th and were more than 4 lengths back. This filly is a prior G3 winner from when she ran successfully in the Ice Cream Gold Stakes in New Zealand back in January of this year. She has struggled in her last two races and looks to get back on track. Her jockey may need to help her find a little more leg for this race as she meets up against a very formidable crowd here in Berkshire. She will be headong to the gate on Saturday representing the Midas residency.
8. General Snitzel 11/1 cadetprime B Jungnitsch
This G1 winning filly sired by Snitzel also ran last on 04/28/2019 in the G1, The 1000 Guineas, but too was met with disappointment when she crossed the wire 7th some 3 lengths back. However, her race prior to that came on 03/30/2019 in Japan in the G1, The Japanese 1000 Guineas hitting the wire 1st to earn her G1 badge and a trip to the winners circle to pose for a photo. In that race she faced up against some familiar horses that will also be contending here in Berkshire. She will have the same jockey that rode her in Japan that helped her pick up that G1 win in, B Jungnitsch who will be flying in from New Zealand. He may need to help her find just a little more fire in her legs for this race as they head to the turf to represent the Empire State Racing (ESR) residency.
9. Oasis King 11/1 lazysranch B Ampe
In her last outing in Germany this Bay filly sired by Oasis Dream got up for a nice G2 win on 04/21/2019 in Germany 1000 Guineas. She has been racing very well this season with three Wins and one Place finish in her last four starts. Her owner puts in the call to Belgium to contract with a very familiar jockey for his horse in B Ampe who has ridden her in her last two starts. They pair up again here in Berkshire in their quest to win or get her in contention to again get her on the boards. Not a horse to be taken lightly in this race.
10. Win In Vegas 8/1 redhill18 D Ledwith
I don’t see that this Bay filly sired by Fastnet Rock has ever won in Vegas before, but she did win in her last race on 05/04/2019 in Italy in the G2, The Regina Elena going 8 furlongs with a respectable sp 105. She got up by 1 ½ lengths to make her way to the winners circle to put that G2 badge in the trophy case for her owner. She has ten career starts and has only been knocked off the boards once and that was way back in August of last year. She has four Wins in her last five outings and the other was a Place finish. She looks like she could be competitive here if she can bring that speed rating from her last outing forward with her as she moves up in Class. She will be representing the Blazing Saddles residence when she heads to the gate on Saturday here in Berkshire.
11. Injury Reports 10/1 foxon2 A Craig
Her owner picks up jockey, A Craig from out of Newmarket to take to the irons on his Bay filly sired by The Gurkha. This filly has shown up as the bridesmaid in her last two Graded outings. She last ran in Newmarket in the G1, The 1000 Guineas back on 04/28/2019 and was 2nd only 1 length back behind Babygirli’mblue who she will face here again on Saturday for this race. She has only been off the boards once in her six career starts and she has the gleam in her eye to be a contender here in Berkshire. She too will be getting the support of the Pastures of Green residency at post time.
12. Priority Objective 13/1 mightyforego25 M Day
This Irish bred Bay filly sired by Dawn Approach showed up 3rd at the wire in her last two G1 races. She last ran in Ireland on 05/19/2019 in the G1, The Irish 1000 Guineas. She comes here to Berkshire to take on some familiar horses today that she has met in the past. She ran a sp 103 in her last outing and she will need to bring that forward plus maybe a little extra when she hits the turf here in Berkshire. She finds a local crowd pleasing jockey here in Berkshire in M Day to take the ride with her on Saturday. This is a familiar jockey for her as they paired up in her last race in Ireland. She will be here representing the All-Stars Racing residency for this race.
13. Lactical 23/1 babies5 M Zeus
This Bay filly sired by Zelzal has struggled a bit in her last two outing which were both at the G1 level. She took a nosedive in here last outing and threw out a clunker sp 84 at a distance of 10 furlongs in Paris on 05/11/2019 in the G1, The Saint Larry where she showed up way back in 8th place. Her owner brings her back down in distance for this race in Berkshire, which may have been a wise choice. She has yet to hit the triple digit speed ratings and the odds makers took note of that in making her the long shot of this field. Her owner makes a call to Spain to offer the opportunity to jockey M Zeus to take the mount which has been accepted. She will be headed to the gate on Saturday to represent the Universal Racing Club residency as she heads out to prove and redeem herself.
14. Total Newb 10/1 walmtk P Harzheim
This Brown filly sired by Written Tycoon will start here in Berkshire representing the Blazing Saddles residency. She will be facing some familiar fillies in this race when she takes to the turf on Saturday. Her last outing came on 05/05/2019 in Paris in the G1, The French 1000 Guineas. She clipped the triple digit speed mark with a sp 100 as she crossed the wire 2nd and 1 ½ lengths short at the wire. She was trying to close but just missed. She gets a familiar jockey she has paired up with in her last two outings in P Harzheim who is also a local jockey here in Berkshire that should help get added attention at the betting windows. She is a prior G1 winner and that came back in September of last year. She looks to make her mark here in Berkshire but may need a swat or two from her jockey’s whip to get her into contention from that far outside gate.
Good luck to all horses and all owners of this race. Most importantly have fun!!!
This is a great field with a host of many fine fillies to pick from in this race to cross the wire first. I will attempt to give you a few of my choices, but don’t put a lot of stock in what I think may happen.
1. Clarehaven: Had a nice G1 win in her last outing and has had steady speed improvements.
2. Babygirl1’mblue: Won in her last four races including a G1 win her last time out. She picks up the same jockey for this race.
3. Injury Reports: Keeps improving and looks up to the task.
Tarton’s Long Shot
Paradise Dreams: I am going to take a modest 11/1 choice to throw on my exotic tickets today here in Berkshire. She has a familiar jockey and looks to be a possible contender to hit the boards.
