GRADE 1 – NATIONAL PLAYERS CLUB OAKS

Saturday July 20th, 3:00PM at New York.

VOLCANIC GOLD     (8-1)     3away

Drawing the rail here is this scratch bred from Kentucky. GIANT’S CAUSEWAY x SEEKING THE GOLD x ALYDAR.  She enters here on a 4 race win streak capped last time out by winning the G2 Los Angeles Oaks with a 110 SP#.  In fact, this front runner has won 5 of her 6 career starts.  I would give this filly a serious look before heading to the betting window.

OUTBACK CALLING     (15-1)     tulloch

Another Kentucky scratch bred is in gate #2.  NYQUIST x SEEKING THE GOLD x NORTHERN DANCER.  Has won 4 out her last 5 since breaking her maiden including last out in her only stakes effort coming from 9 lengths off the pace to win the First Ryder Dirt Filly Route.  Has shown big time closing speed down the stretch but it is her first race in graded company.

HITTITE EMPIRE     (14-1)     pointblank

Post #3 is occupied by the Kentucky bred daughter of AMERICAN PHAROAH out of the graded stakes winning mare HATTUSA.  She has the most starts in the field with 11 but 3 of those came on the turf.  She has one prior graded race but was a disappointing 14th here in New York in April.  Likes to run at or near the early pace and has shown a knack for hitting the board.

CLEARLY AT FAULT     (11-1)     kiwirharfo

The #4 hole holds yet another Kentucky scratch bred.  MINESHAFT x DEPUTY MINISTER x VINCATION.  She stays right here in New York after making her graded debut in the G2 Winter Is Over in June when she closed hard down the stretch to get 5th place.  A definite late charger that has not yet won at the stakes level, with her best being a 2nd in the ASR Preakness.

BIG RED CANDY SLEW     (12-1)     desertdog

Breaking from gate #5 will be another Kentucky scratch bred.  CANDY RIDE x SEATTLE SLEW x SECRETARIAT.  She will be making her first graded start here but comes in having won 3 out of her last 4 races.  Last time out she won the Virgin Bubble Dirt Filly Route posting a 103 SP#.  Will likely follow just behind the early speed and look to pull off a big surprise.

SESHAT     (14-1)     jastables

The #6 post is housing another Kentucky scratch bred.  AMERICAN PHAROAH x A.P. INDY x MR. PROSPECTOR.  She has only missed the tote board twice in 8 starts but were in her 2 graded starts.  Has been a hard charging closer throughout her career.  Came from 10 back to get up for 4th in the G3 SilverBulletBeer back in February.  Could return a nice payday if she gets it done here.

MY AMERICAN LADY     (13-1)     stockswami

The #7 hole brings us this Kentucky bred daughter of AMERICAN PHAROAH out of the graded stakes winning mare MALIBU MOON’S LADY.  She was 3rd at this years Black Middle Flower Stakes kicking a 104 SP# in her last start but this was her best finish in 3 graded appearances.  She will be coming from mid pack or further in this one.  It could be her time this week.

THREE DAY BLIZZARD     (5-1)      lenny271

The ML favorite will bolt from the #8 post and is the Kentucky bred daughter of EMPIRE MAKER and is based on the graded stakes winning he-mare LONG WHITE SNOW.  Comes in here off of 4 straight top 2 finishes including last out a 2nd in the G2 Winter Is Over in her first graded start with a 107 SP# coming from 9 back at the midway point.  Another Lenny Monster to deal with.

K’S TESTING CODE     (8-1)     wreckages

The #9 gate will hold this Kentucky bred daughter of MALIBU MOON out of the stakes placed mare K’S UNWRITTEN CODE.  She comes to New York on a 2 race winning streak after a 1 race foray on the weeds.  She will be making her first stakes race start at any level here.  Will be coming from mid pack or further back.  The handicapper must see something that he likes in her.

NOIA MAP     (12-1)     fernando

The #10 post brings us this Kentucky bred daughter of LIAM’S MAP out of the stakes placed mare JUANA.  Her last 3 starts have all been at the graded level and last out was 2nd in the G3 Denny Tario Oaks kicking out a 104 SP#.  She has only failed to finish in the money once in 7 career races.  She likes to be out front or near the early pace.  Can she hold off the talented closers here?

SERIOUS RUNNING     (9-1)     graywolf6

Breaking from the #11 hole will be this Oklahoma bred daughter of DEN’S LEGACY out of the EOY mare COYOTE SMUGGLER.  She picked up a graded win right here at New York last out in the G1 NEW YORKER besting the boys over 12f coming from 11 lengths back while posting a 105 SP#.  Hard to look past the only G1 winner in the field especially at this price.

NOTHING BUT EVIL     (7-1)     lenny271

The 2nd lenny entry will be in gate #12 and is this Kentucky bred daughter of ARROGATE and based on the graded stakes winning he-mare NOTHING BUT RAGE.  She has made her last 3 starts at the G1 level without any success while coming from off the pace but did win the G3 SilverBulletBeer when pressing the early leaders, a strategy that produced 7 straight top 2 finishes.

KEENY MINEY MO     (13-1)     corza

Lucky gate #13 is home to this Kentucky bred daughter of KEEN ICE out of the mare EENIEINDY MINEY MO.  She has made 6 of her 8 starts against graded fields including last time out in an ill fated G1 attempt on the turf.  She likes to keep the early leaders within her sights.  She won her last dirt race the Stormy Project Dirt Filly Memorial with a 99 SP#.

BRINGER OF CHAOS     (9-1)     lenny271

The 3rd entry from lenny has drawn the outside gate #14 is this Kentucky bred daughter of EMPIRE MAKER out of the HOF mare BLACK TUESDAY.  She was 4 for 4 on the board as a juvenile, with 2 victories.  Will be making her graded stakes debut here.  Last win came in January at the Coldstone Dirt Filly Route from 11 ¼ back.  A deep closer looking to right the ship.
