BREATH CONTROL – donnyb’s first time starter certainly has the pedigree to get the surface and distance; Dam produced one stakes winner from six offspring, a filly by Frankel, but Heavy Breathing ain’t no Frankel

SECONDHAND GOSSIP – another first time starter, this one from the ace racing stables, the daughter of the multi-graded stakes winning sire Frank Conversation, is also bred to handle this distance and surface and wouldn’t have to be much to surpass seven siblings, all who made their living at the claiming level

BADSTORMONARAINBOW – top trainer, most accomplished filly, Dam was a Stakes winner on the Turf that produced two stakes winners at a route over the Turf; graduation day for the kingab filly

OVERSTEPPER – Big Brown filly should improve greatly with the added distance from a Dam that produced the multiple graded stakes winning CASINO SPIRIT, as well as stakes winners TITAN’S MOON and LOONAR ECLIPSE; casino filly should be up for a big run here on Saturday

ROCK N FIRE – the francua filly is bred to run far…the question is whether One Mile is far enough; scratch-bred Rocket Legs filly just might need to ignite those thrusters

COGNITIVEDISONANCE – the sremel filly by Freud is a first-time starter out of the stakes winning mare KAT DENNINGS, winner of the Virgin Kelly Turf Mare Endurance, emphasis on endurance; she did her best racing between 10 and 16-furlongs

BIG BONNIE B – the pointguard filly introduced herself to the ESR community last out when she finished second in the ESR Iron Butterfly ahead of LOADING ZONE and CASINO ONE, both who went on to finishing ITM in a stakes in their next starts; making her fifth appearance, she has the experience edge that is so important in these 2yo races

KITTY ON THE ROCKS – one of two from the trotter1 stables, not the stronger of the two, but don’t dismiss this one who returns to the Turf and stretches out around two turns for the first time

BREAKING CADET – the cadet trainee took on open bred rivals in her debut and was a willing opponent throughout the contest; out of the multi-graded stakes winning CADET DROPPER, however she has yet to produce anything noteworthy from four previous offspring

ICE GOLD DANCER –  second from the trotter1 stables, the only question I have with her is if she is suited for the mile; forget the last, she wasn’t even trying; previous was a second place finish to DISCREET MUSE, third place finisher in the G2 Spring Hill Stakes  last week…I like my chances

ROYAL PUSSY CAT – the jrm trainee makes her first career start and her pedigree does give her a favorable shot at today’s distance and surface, however the DAM won only 15k in 33 career starts and has yet to make an impact in the breeding shed

SPIRIT OF MIA – although the bonk first timer has a two-turn pedigree, her DAM finished far back in her only start around two turns and her lone offspring has done his best racing in sprints

The Picks

BADSTORMONARAINBOW – when you add up all the parts the kingab filly is the logical choice

ICE GOLD DANCER – I prepped this filly from day one for this race; do I expect big things…hell yes

OVERSTEPPER – moves up considerably around two turns off sprint debut

  1. Love that you saw fit to come back and do another outstanding preview. Great in-depth work Boss!

  2. Hell, you didn’t even need to open the PP’s to figure out Kingab’s filly is the logical choice!

When are we going to get an heir apparent to Kingab’s throne?

    Maybe a Kingab apprentice?

Me? I’d like to hit the board in one of these races…

  3. Thank you for the article! Enjoy seeing all young residency horses.
