I feel at this time I must kind of change up my format for previewing races due to changes in BTB as explained in Mike’s notice.  I will make this more of a Tip Sheet type of format cutting out some of the information I previously pointed out in my past articles.  Thanks, and I am sure everyone understands this shorter review for each horse.  I wish Mike the best with all the work it looks like he has on his agenda.

Horse/Odds                                 Sire                                     Owner                           Jockey

1.  Powerwasher  6/1                Ministers Wild Cat        ajhsstable                    O A Haack

Has ran well in the past with this jockey up top who brought him in for a win in the G2, Flying Carpet Handicap back in November of last year. No Graded wins this season but could be in the mix coming for home.

2.  Thomas Cents  23/1             Goldencents                    dchance                       J Ledwith

He will be the odds makers longest choice in the field.  He has been running on dirt his past four races.  He has raced successfully in Allowance races on the turf.  Is a non-stakes winner and this will be his first trip at the Graded level.  You may need to look further down the list.

3.  The Final Turn  4/1              American Pharoah       lenny271                      D Raymonds

He will be taking another stab at contending at the Graded level.  He has been running respectable speed ratings in his recent trips to the track.  Looks like he can handle going 10 furlongs and he deserves a look at the betting window.

4.  Sievert  5/1                          Sea The Stars                      smuf                            J Stivers

He gets a familiar jockey for the ride of which helped him earn is GP badge in the G3, The Golden Bridge Stakes back in May of this year.  He is seeking for find his first Graded win here in California.  He has the ability to post some nice speed numbers and drops down in distance from recent prior races.

5.  K’s Erroneus  3/1                 Bernardini                        kuovadis                      W McClendon

He is a G1 winner and found that in June of this year in New York in the G1, NY Island Cap.  He gets an unfamiliar jockey for the ride, but the horse is comfortable with the 10 furlong distance.  He should be a horse to watch and could get his picture taken again here in California.

6.  Roundtable Cat  15/1           Camelot                             anastacia                      B Doherty

This jockey is a familiar favorite for this horse but he has not ridden him in his last five races.  He is coming off a nice Allowance win in Kentucky, but this horse has failed to make his mark against Graded company.  He needs to prove he can step up in Class and bring the speed from his Allowance races with him.

7.  Furys Fire  7/1                     Shamardal                           redvipers                      D Chancellor

He is a scratch bred colt with Shamardal x Nureyev x Dynaformer.  In his last race, the G3, The Rennen Classic he failed to perform.  He is a Listed Stakes winner, but has shown difficulty in trying to move up to the Graded level.  He has shown some good speed fractions in the past.  He seeks his first trip to the Boards at this level of competition.

8.  Wheretheroadgoes  5/2        Dansili                             supapogs4                   J Benisz

It is no mystery as to why the odds makers have chosen this horse to be their morning line favorite.  In his last eleven races he only missed the boards once and brought home three wins.  He ran a nice 116 speed his last trip to the track in the G1, Windy City Turf Classic, but it was only good enough for fourth.  He needs to be on your tickets somewhere at the betting window.

9.  Run Me Ragged  21/1           Medaglia D’Oro               peterparker                   GD Mate

This colt found himself way over his head in his last outing when he made his first Listed Stakes attempt and he was unable to keep up with the competition in that field.  I fear the same will happen here as he takes a big jump in Class and goes off as one of the longest choices in this field.

Good luck to all horses and all owners of this race.  Most importantly have fun!!!
