Group of eight going to post in the Grade 1 Coffeefields Cup will fight it out for the three million over twelve furlongs.
1. YUMALI 6-1 Manduro – Yarraman, Alkaased
This 4yo colt is a Grade 3 winner that has found the winners circle in fifty percent of his starts. Son of Manduro will have to cut back from his usual 14 or 16 panel distance to get the job done. Having seen eight races this year he is showing some wear on the season. His first start in a G1, will have to find his form again to make it home first.
2. CINNAMON LV 5-2 Redoute’s Choice – Of Manitoba, Montjeu
5yo Grade 1 winning gelding is going back to 12 furlongs looking to regain some form. The distance seems to be right in his wheelhouse and he has a second place in the G1 Ark De ComicDog over the same distance. Coming in with an 8th and two 4th place finishes he does not look as good as he was last year.
3. SEAING THE WING 13-1 (Scr Bred) Sea The Moon (GER) x In The Wings x Be My Guest
Grade 1 place over 16 panels this is another horse seeing a cut back in distance. 5yo horse has not hit the board in seven starts (since December 2018). Maybe the turnback in distance will wake him up, needs to find more.
4. BARNSTORMED 4-1 (Scr Bred) Dalakhani x Sadler’s Wells x Dynaformer
Another 5yo this Grade 2 millionaire seems to like the 12 furlongs and has been consistently competitive in his last five starts, picking up two wins. Should get a good stalking trip and be in contention.
5. TETE CHIRON 4-1 Le Havre (IRE) – High Cozzene, Danzig
Grade 1 winner really like the distance of this race and has been in the mix on his last four runs, all graded. In fact his last twelve races have been in graded competition, and sixteen of his twenty two starts have been at the graded level. Well tried and well shown, not one to leave out.
6. THE VALKYRIE 7-1 Awesome Again – Chef Owner Rococo, Dynaformer
I never ignore a horse on a streak and the same goes for this promising horse. This will be the first shot at a graded stake and it is a big one. With good numbers in his last handful of starts as well as really enjoying the distance this horse could improve enough to get there. Being the likely loan speed, look for him to steal this race on the front end.
7. A SHOO IN 30-1 Snitzel – This Is The Plan, Frankel (GB)
The youngster of the group, this 3yo is looking to stretch out in a big way. His first test past 8.5 panels he will really have to like the distance to find the winners circle here. His last two were good runs but he is stepping against older horses and its is leaving him with a big task.
8. LIGHT UP THE DARK 7-2 (scr bred) Sea The Stars x Danehill x Roberto
Looking for another Grade 1 this horse has a good look to pick up his third graded stakes. After winning the Grade 2 Dutchland at this distance last out he is stepping back into the Grade 1 ring to try and bring another home. With six of his last seven starts being at 12 panels this horse absolutely knows and likes the distance. Could come home with the money
Good luck to all, and to all a safe trip
