King’s Theatre (10050)

Since I really miss breeding info in the btb I tried to write an article on my own. I chose King’s Theatre to start with since this was the first sire I ever used in this game and his offspring is still in my possession and still picking up breedingpoints.

King’s Theatre is a son of Sadler’s Wells that won G1’s at age 2 and 3 and placed and showed in several other Graded Races before being retired in 1997. He is the sire of 6 Graded winners . Since Real Life and the Sim often are two different things I never do compare them and even don’t breed on what works in real life. What is striking is that in Real Life this Stud always seem to have a full book and in the sim this absolutely is not the case.

In the sim he only has 24 active runners of which 2 stakes winners. Both of them have inbreeding to Raise A Native. He looks to have a pretty decent 2y old this year which also has the RAN – inbreeding and is bargainbred. His only winner in 2006 also has this inbreeding and is even bred more expensive to Kingmambo (Nureyev in the pedigree). What is striking me in most of his winners is the presence of NUREYEV. If you look at his winners of the 2005 crop you will notice a couple of Damsires with Nureyev in the pedigree: COSMONAUT, GOLD TRIBUTE, PEINTRE CELEBRE. You see this same pattern in the winners of the 2004 and 2003 crop: KINGMAMBO (2x), ATAKA, THEATRICAL. Anyway if there is no Nureyev in the DS spot at least you see a ND x Prospector cross or even both.

What I also do like in the pedigree is the presence of Hail To Reason.

So my breeding advice  would be to try and go for the following, preferably all combined:

-         try to get Nureyev in the pedigree preferably somewhere in the pedigree of the Damsire

-         try to go for a 4x4 or 4x5 inbreeding to Raise A Native

-         try to go for a 5x5 Inbreeding to Hail To Reason

King’s Theatre in the sim is unproven to give good results with more expensive damsires so in first instance I would not try to go for an expensive breed.

For the DAMSIRE

I would try to go with sons of Nureyev like: ACT DEFIANT – FORT STANTON – FASLIYEV – NE COUPEZ PAS – SOVIET STAR – ZILZAL

Or would go with sons of Prospector who also are crossed with Nureyev: AMERICAN TRIBUTE – COSMONAUT – GOLD TRIBUTE – MIESQUE’S SON

For the DDS

I would go for sons from Raise A Native: RAISE A CUP – MAJESTIC PRINCE – NATIVE ROYALTY – CLEAR CHOICE – HIGHLAND PARK – AZIRAE,….

Or I would go for the Hail to Reason Inbreeding and try sons of following sires: ROBERTO – STOP THE MUSIC - HALO
