Danzig Connection (1506)
Foaled in 1983 and out of Danzig as his name already more or less reveals. His grandsire thus was the great Northern Dancer and his damsire was the 1968 United Kingdom Horse of the Year and Epsom Derby Winner, Sir Ivor. He started racing at age 2 in 1985 and defeated STORM CAT to capture the World Appeal Stakes. As a 3y old he had his best year winning two Stakes and the Belmont Stakes.
As a stud his progeny to date have met with limited success. He stands in Italy.
In the sim his stats are dropping year by year, most likely because he indeed has limited success in real life. For this reason he often is still available on Sunday for limited credits.
He has gotten 9 Stakeswinners in the sim of which 3 are Graded winners. He had a very good first two crops but then his stats are dropping. I still think he has the potential to breed the occasional Stakeswinner. His 2006 crop does not contain any Stakeswinners but he does have 6 stakesplaced runners in that crop on a total of 31 foals. Big part of his sim runners seem to prefer dirt or turf but definitely distances from sprint up to the mile.
When you look at his breedings it is difficult to find a recurring pattern in his runners. Two inbreedings in his better horses (graded and stakes) seem to be present a bit more and often than others:
- I found back 7 inbreedings to Native Dancer (5x5 or even 5x5x5)
- I found back 10 inbreedings to Northern Dancer (3x4 or 3x5)
In my opinion those inbreedings seem to work best, not necessarily in combination with eachother.
Possible relatively cheap breedings could be with son of Prospector as DS and son of Northern Dancer as DDS:
Danzig Connection x Jade Hunter x Northern Baby
Danzig Connection x Lode x Try My Best
Danzig Connection x Lycius x Hero’s Honor
Danzig Connection x Naevus x Northfields
