The Favorite Has NEVER Won This Race!
The Breeders Bowl Juvenile Turf Filly Grade 1 Stakes A mile and one sixteenth on Firm Turf $750,000 Two Year Old Fillies Stakes Record – DANCING BLADE – 2001, 1:43 1/5, 95.55 SPF This is one of the most fun races on the card. These young ladies are maturing nicely and there should be some fast speeds out there. If you look at this race on paper there seems to be a clear favorite in FLOWERATS. I hate to tell Trainer Darnath2 this but in the seven previous BB Juvy Filly Turf races the favorite has NEVER won the race. As a matter of fact, most have finished well back. That should give a few trainers some extra hope in this race. There are some really beautiful and talented fillies here so let’s take a look:

This filly is out of a Mare that amazingly only ran one race in her career and finished fourth in that one. This girl finished fourth in her first race as well but it’s a good thing that trainer and owner EJDStable stuck with her because she hasn’t lost in the three races since then. It was when she moved to a mile at the Filly Grand Prix that she really found her niche. She was over nine lengths back in that race and mired in last place. She was still in 12th at the top of the stretch but looked like she was running on rocket fuel as she flew past everyone with a furious charge and won the prestigious race rather easily with an 83 SPF. It looks as if the extra distance may be to her advantage and she could surprise at the generous Morning Line odds.
The biggest drawback here is Bauman in the saddle with his uninspiring stats. I am a big believer that jockeys can really be key in these big races and that could be a factor for this team.

Wearing the colors of the Clement-Migliore Stables, this nice looking brown filly is already a Grade I winner in the FAUSTER JUVENILE CUP back in June. Her only blemish on her six race record is a fourth place finish in a GIII right after that. Trainer Wins moved her back to regular Stakes races to get ready for the BB. This will be her first time past six and half furlongs and could be a point of worry for the team. Kentucky is in the irons and should be able to pace her enough to go the extra distance.
Her best races were on the lead and the inside post won’t hurt that in the least. There is a decent amount of early speed in this race and trainer Wins will have to hope that she doesn’t get burned out trying to stay on the lead early then having nothing left when she hits that uncharted territory of the extra distance.

Most of the two year old talk this year around the stables is centered around this chestnut filly and with good reason. She has won all five of her races rather easily including three Graded outings. One of those was World Cup Juvy Filly Turf Mile where she ran a sizzling 90SPF and that wasn’t even her fastest race and she won by a couple of lengths. Number one rated with nearly a half a mil in earnings, she has won both from the front and as a top of the stretch stalker. Trainer Darnath2 of the Darnath Stables has brought her along quite nicely and she seems poised to continue her winning ways here and make a play for two year old horse of the year honors.
Loesch is holding the reins and this will be his second consecutive ride on the filly as he guided her to the win at the World Cup. They seem to have found a comradeship that is sometimes formed between horse and rider that makes them extra tough to beat.

This beautiful cream colored filly has been a bit of an enigma to trainer CKStable and owner Team CK. She looked like a world beater in her first four races with and unblemished record including the GII LITTLE ONES JUVENILE FILLY. She suddenly seemed to stop improving and ran fourth in a GIII, won a regular Stakes race then finished a disappointing eighth in the World Cup Sprint where she ran an uninspired race. She now stretches out to a mile plus for the first time and you have to hope that jockey Bangs will help her find her way over the longer distance. That may be just what the doctor ordered for this girl with her front running style and an inside post to show it off.
If she is going to get straightened out, there is no place like this big stage to put it all together and show the world. There is certainly a possibility that she could do just that with the talent that she has exhibited.

What would a Breeders Bowl race be without and entry by the Evil Empire Stables and trainer Lenny5? In this first of two entries in this race by the owner, he has an undefeated young lady that has run easily and won just as easily in her four races. That included a Stakes win last time out and a solid 81 SPF. Her last two were both at a mile or more and may give her a bit of an advantage as she is one of only three horses in this race that have run two that far. Lenny5 doesn’t believe in pushing these pretty young things and is quite happy with her progress. He isn’t sure how she will fare in the race but has the capable hands of McClendon on the reins and that sure won’t hurt. She is another front runner and there should be plenty of early speed from these inside posts.
It may be even more interesting to see what happens to this filly after the race to see if her light schedule lets her continue her success well into her three year old season and beyond.

Quick Response
You won’t find and front running from this chestnut girl unless it is right at the end of the race. She is a deep closer from way back in her first race when she astounded trainer BradyBoy of the Lissa’s Stables the way she won easily from that far back. She is from nicely bred Mare QUICK RESPONSE who has proven to be a better broodmare than she was a racer. This young filly has improved the further she has run and just missed last time out in the World Cup Juvy Filly Turf Mile. If that race is an indication, the extra distance here will most definitely be to her liking.
Trainer BradyBoy is quite delighted to have a BB runner and is quite hopeful that she will hit the board. She has looked Sharp in training this week and has the gaudy percentages of H.Harzheim in the leather. She has been winning every other race and if that is an indicator they they had better look out at the front as it is her week to win!

The second of the coupled entry from the Evil Empire Stables, this young lady looks to be almost a carbon copy of the stables other entry, THUNDERLIPS. Once again, trainer Lenny18 has brought her along slowly and she has shown up for the race undefeated with easy wins and her first Stakes victory last time out. He had used much the same training regimen for LIGHTSEEKER in last year’s edition of this race. She showed up as the favorite and finished third but went on to much more success than most of her counterparts and you have to wonder if it isn’t due to the fact that she was so lightly raced coming into that race.
This girl looks like she is ready for the big stage as she keeps improving and winning easily. She is more of a stalker than her Stable mate, with a preference to sit just off the pace and hit that gear at the top of the stretch. Jockey Gossett will be well versed in her techniques and know how to bring them home. This team could certainly surprise with generous numbers from the ticket windows.

One more length and this nice looking chestnut filly would be undefeated coming into this race. One of the most interesting things will be to see how trainer Alien23 instructs jockey Stivers to position the filly. In past races, she has run from the front, from just off the pace and her only defeat was from the back end although she was closing and just seemed to run out of room. This will be her longest race to date as she hasn’t gone past seven furlongs this year. She is proudly displaying the colors of the Karie’s Super Stables That Kick Ass which is certainly one of the longest Stable names in the business.
The broodmare DIXIE CHIX has now foaled three nice looking offspring in her three tries, with Stakes Placed and Stakes Winner with the first two and Graded Winner here in RIO CHIX. She was successful in her own right with nearly half of her 49 races in the money. Stivers in the saddle has sixteen years of experience and this is one of his very best years. He would love to top it off with a Breeders Bowl victory. It is hard to bet against him.

Trainer MsTrinity1 of the MsTrinity stables has certainly given this filly a well rounded education coming into the race. She has run three different distance, on two surfaces and on an off track all with successful numbers. She continues to improve and has two Stakes wins to her credit. What the MsTrinity folks have got to be the most excited about though is what happened last time out when she ran her first mile and she sizzled around the track with an 88 SPF and won going away. She seemed to really take to the extra distance and that certainly bodes well for this race.
Gardner will be holding the reins in his magic hands and they will probably be near but not at the back when they hit that turn for home. She has a nice gear that she shifts into at that time and should be in the mix at the end. It is time for all of that education to finally pay off on this big test.

Flying the colors of the Baggio Stables is this big beauty. She and CK MOSH PIT are the only two in the race with as many as seven races experience. Her last two wins were her last two races as trainer JMSStable stretched her out first to seven and a half and finally to a mile where she flourished. She won the GIII BOOKER T HANDICAP quite handily with a rush from the rear and with a fast 88 SPF that shows that she can do some damage here. She has P.Harzheim up and he is quite possibly my favorite jockey in all of Sim Land.
I think that this could very well be a team to be reckoned with in this race despite the double digit odds from the Morning Line. She is coming in on a nice roll, has the experience, speed and one of the best jocks in the business… what’s not to like? Watch out for this group.

This pretty light grey filly ran her first mile last time out in the Filly Turf World Cup race and had a very respectable third place finish to FLOWERATS and FAST ‘N’ LOOSE . Now we will see what happens when she has just a bit more real estate to cover. I think that may help her out. Trainer Sorrento of the Jacklad Empire Stables has done an admirable job of bringing her along and stretching her out to get to this point. They have Small in the saddle with his gaudy win percentage and that may be just what they need to get to the top of the ladder in this race.
Small will have to make sure that she doesn’t get too far back with this field as that may have been her problem in a couple of races. She has hit the board in five of six races and it will be mighty tough to keep her off again in this race. Watch out for this Kitten to Fly when it comes stretch time.

Trainer Casino and the Casino Stables were definitely praying for rain this week and it appeared for a while that the wish would come true. It now appears that we have a fast and firm track and his filly will have to compete without the mud wrestling. This throws a bit of a fly in the ointment as the only two races that she has won were on off tracks. She has been competitive every start but loves the mud. The next best hope is the nice improvement she showed in the FILLY GRAND PRIX when she first went a mile and finished with a flourish and a third place mark. She has Benisz in the irons and he has been hot all year. If he can translate that to this girl, she could show some nice moves.
Does anyone out there know a rain dance? Check in with Casino if you do.

The name of this filly reminds me that I have a few relatives that I wish would get lost…but I digress. The best news for trainer Trotter10 and the Trotter1 Stables is that from her very first race, this girl has won every other race. This is one of the winning weeks. She has won two Stakes races and looked excellent last time out in the GIII BOOKER T HANDICAP, narrowly getting caught at the end for a second place finish. That was her first race at a mile so jockey R. Harzheim the third brother in this race, will have to make sure she has something left at the end in this slightly longer race.
The other thing that may not play to her advantage is that she is a speed horse that loves the lead. That is a bit tough in that she is parked pretty far outside and there is lots of early speed from the inside in the race. Hopefully she won’t tire early in the race trying to get to the front. She is by far the most successful of Sire KRIS KIN and like any young lady, would sure like to make Daddy proud.

With only a Maiden victory in her four races, you have to wonder about this cream colored filly’s chances but she has been more than competitive in every race and one of those was even against the boys. She was closing at a mile in the Filly Grand Prix and may like the extra bit of distance here.
Trainer DaBears of the Smokeglack Stables told me that he didn’t expect a lot from this filly with her unproven Sire. Every time she has gone out though she has shown incredible heart and come from the back to hit the board. They have the best jockey win percentage wise in the entire race and that should sure count for something. DaBears believes that she will make a solid run for the board in this race as well. That is hard to argue with.
As I mentioned earlier, the favorite has never won this race in previous Breeder Bowls. It is an amazingly tough race to handicap as few of these ladies have had more than one race at a mile or more and some have not run that far at all. There is going to be lots of early speed and that can dictate how the race will be run. The way I see it, I have BLUEGRASS RACER finishing fourth. She may actually do much better than that but there is lots of talent here.. In a bit of a surprise I have WATCH YOUR BACK ‘s in third on my card. She hasn’t had a lot of experience but is well rested and looked really good in her last race. FAST 'N' LOOSE will be coming “Fast and Furious” at the end but will fall just short to FLOWERATS once again. I think that she is the cream of this field and will rise to the top.
