Seven Fillies To Run In Panhandle Park Oaks
by horizons on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 6:25:15 AM

Race Goes Off with Co-Favorites

The fourteenth race on the card for this Saturday’s race day in Florida is the Panhandle Park Oaks, the first of our two graded stakes to be run that Saturday. Though the weather has continued to be chilly, no rain is expected to move in through the week, so you can expect the track to be firm. The Panhandle Park Oaks will be run over a mile and one sixteenth on the turf and is open to three year old fillies. Seven fillies are entered to run in this years Panhandle Park Oaks, lets take a look at this years contenders for the $125,000 purse.

Drawing the rail will beQuantumimmorality (ENG) (Starcraft (NZ) x Irish River (FR) x El Gran Senor), who is trained by homearoan, owner of The Big Oil Conglomerate. The bay filly has had a total of eight career starts. Three of the fillies starts have resulted in wins, along with one place and a show, all of which have come on the turf track. Her most recent start came last month in Epsom during the ungraded Il Ytela Challenge where the filly broke out of the gate in the lead but was caught in the final furlongs to the wire and finished second, one and one-fourth lengths back, while setting a speed figure of eighty-six. Her most recent win came last year in an eight furlong allowance caliber start in Germany where she stalked the pace in second, but got up to the lead in the turn and went on to win by one and one-fourth lengths. The fillies most recent graded start came in October during the Graduation Stakes (G1) over eight and a half furlongs, where the filly finished last in the field with a disappointing speed of only twenty-five.

In the second slot isTruculent (IRE) (Montjeu (IRE) x Kingmambo x Secretariat), who is out of the stakes-winning dam Obstreperous, and is owned by malekfarms, owner of Afc Stables. The Irish bred brown filly has been lightly raced with a total of four lifetime starts, of which three resulted in wins. Her most recent start came last month in the Juvy Fillies Turf Restricted where the filly broke out of the gate in fourth and took control of the pace just before the stretch in the mile long race, going on to win by three-fourths of a length with a speed figure of ninety.

Next is Dangerous Waters (A.P. Indy x Northern Dancer x Buckpasser) who is owned by billiam40, owner of Billzpaid4 Stables. The blue-blooded chestnut filly has a total of five career starts. Two of the fillies starts have resulted in wins, both of which have come over the turf. Her most recent start came in October on a yielding turf course in the ungraded GR Simsters Juvy Turf Fillies Restricted. Here the filly broke out of the gate in sixth and made her move late in the stretch, but perhaps not caring for the soft ground, was unable to make up enough ground and crossed the wire in fourth with a speed figure of eighty-two. Her most recent win came in September during the Ms. Grim Memorial where she broke out of the gate in third and followed the leaders into the stretch where she made her move on the rest of the field, winning the seven and a half furlong race by two lengths.

Following will be Slevin’s The Name (El Prado (IRE) x Lear Fan x Ide), who is out of the race-winning dam Liquored Up Frog, and is owned and trained by willrome, owner of Wfstables3 Stables. The dark gray mare has a total of four career starts. All but one of these starts have resulted in victories for the Kentucky-bred filly. Her most recent start came in October during the Graduation Stakes (G1) where the broke out of the gate eighth in the field and trailed the pack. At the stretch she’d moved up into third, but in the stretch she was caught by some late runners and finished just in the money in fifth with a speed figure of eighty-five. Her most recent win came just the start before, this in the ungraded Strange Case (IRE) Bonanza, where the filly broke out of the gate in second but took control of the pace in the turn, going on to win going away by two and three-fourth lengths.

Breaking from the fifth post is Dynamedic (ENG) (Medicean (GB) x Dynaformer x Jade Hunter), who is out of the race-winning dam Dynastyinthemaking, and is owned by bmr005, owner of Bmr005 Stables. The brown filly has had a total of seven career starts. Two of her seven starts have resulted in wins, along with two places and a show. Her most recent start came in November during the mile long Ton Painting (IRE) Memorial where the filly broke out of the start gate in second and crossed the wire second with a speed figure of eighty. Her most recent win came in September during a six furlong allowance caliber start in Queensland. Here the filly stalked the pace in fourth before making her move late in the stretch and going on to win by one and one-fourth lengths. This Saturday will be the fillies first time up against graded stakes competition.

The first of our co-favorites is Miesque’s Gold (SAF) (Miesque’s Approval x Unbridled’s Song x Coronado’s Quest), who is out of the race-winning dam Bride’s Song, and is owned by dabears, owner of Smokeglack Stables. The light gray filly has had a total of six career starts. Two of her six starts have resulted in wins, all over the turf. Her most recent start came in November during a good turf track of the Silver Spoon Juvenile (G2) in Hong Kong where the filly broke out of the gate in sixth and made her move just before the stretch, crossing the wire in second with a speed figure of ninety-one. Her most recent win came in New Jersey during the Breeders Bowl Juvenile Turf Filly (G1) where the filly won by a narrow head a the wire.

And drawing the far outside is the the second of our co-favorites, Indy Ghost Hunter (Ghostzapper x A.P. Indy x Northern Dancer), who is out of the stakes-running dam A.P. North, and is trained and owned by wabred1, owner of Snappa Racing Syndicate. The bay filly has a total of six career starts and has won half of them, with all her wins coming over a turf track. Her most recent start was last month in the mile long ungraded Nurse Allison Bonanza where the filly broke out of the gate fourth and never fired down the stretch and finished fourth with a speed figure of ninety. Her most recent win came in October during an allowance caliber start over eight furlongs in Oklahoma where she won the race by one and a half lengths after going wire to wire. Her most recent graded start came in the World Cup Juvenile Filly Turf Mile Restricted (G1) where she finished fourth.
