Talkin' Baseball Now Talking Kentucky

The Land’s End Gr2 Recap

By Smokeglack:

It turned out to be a great day of racing here at Eastern Kentucky. The showcase event was the $500,00 Gr2 Land’s End for 3 year old colts. Here is the transcript of the race call:

Recap:
And They’re off: It’s Talkin’ Baseball who strikes the front. He’s followed by Fly Sky High who sits ½ length back. The Dutrow bro’s Skip or Skeet is 3 back in 3rd. On the Road sits off his flank in 4th. T. West has Sheema Dubai in a comfortable 5th. Midtown Riot is forwardly placed in 6th. Hoosier Hysteria is on the bit in 7th. Affirmed Destiny is in mid-pack 8th. 17-1 shot Litchfield Park runs in 9th. Comanche Moon is running comfortably on outside in 10th. It’s a ½ length back to Airmont Survivor in 11th. Vindicated Storm is in a no hurry 12th. Talented Pegasus runs in 13th and the early trailer is the late closing favorite Tonyo City.
(The 1st quarter is run in 23 2/5 seconds.)
As they make their way down the backstretch now, it’s still Talkin’ Baseball leading the way. Fly Sky High remains in second, now 1 ¾ behind. It’s 3 ½ back to Skip or Sweet who remains in 3rd. On The Road looks imposing today as he sits comfortably in 4th. Midtown Riot has moved up a spot to be 5th now. Hoosier Hysteria has also moved up one to be 6th. Shemal Dubai has gone back a bit to 7th. Litchfield Park is in 8th. Affirmed Destiny is still an unhurried 9th. Comanche Moon is moved to the outside and running in 10th. He is followed by Airmont Survivor, Vindicated Storm and Talented Pegasus. The trailer is still Gr. 3 winner Tonyo City.
(The ½ was run in 47 3/5..)

At the far turn now, as Talkin’ Baseball continues to show his classy speed. He’s in front by 5. Fly Sky High continues to stalk his prey. Skip or Skeet is urged to stay 3rd. On The Road seems ready to be the first to make his move. Commanche Moon is on the move now. Litchfield Park is moving readily now as they make there way to the top of the stretch……
And as they come off the turn, it’s Talkin’ Baseball still in front. His lead is 3 ¼. But here comes Comanche Park to take the first crack. Litchfield Park has moved to within 5 lengths and traveling well. And here comes the favorite Tonyo City with a bold move. On The Road fights to stay in. Any one of these 5 can win it.
They’re in deep stretch now as jockey R.Zamora goes to the left hand with the whip on Talkin’ Baseball. He continues to fight on. Comanche Moon is trying desperately to get him. Litchfield Park is closing like a freight train. Tonyo City is on the run. Comanche Moon turns it up..It looks like it’s gonna be one of these 2. Talkin’ is getting leg weary but fighting on…Comanche Moon is eating up ground.

But at the wire, it’s……… Talkin’ Baseball to win by ¾ length. Comanche Moon just ran out of real estate to finish 2nd by ¾ of a length. It was 4 lengths back to an impressive run by Litchfield Park. Tonyo City had a horrible trip, but ran well to get up for 4th. A game Fly Sky High held on for 5th. And Derby probable On The Road finished in 6th…

Well all, it was a great race and congratulations to Metallinut and Talkin’ Baseball. Ever improving horses Comanche Moon and Litchfield Park ran well. On The Road and Tonyo City will be heard from again…Take care and good night from Eastern Kentucky.
