HARD INDIAN returned to the Oaks/Derby trail in a big way with a strong win in the G1 California Oaks last Saturday. After running midpack throughout the early running, she charged past frontrunner QUIK N SHILOH and drew clear of that rival nearing the wire to win by 2 lengths in a time of 1:42.4, earning a 98 SPF and moving to #1 in the 3yo filly rankings.

Trainer taylormade was ecstatic about his filly's win. “It was nice to see HARD INDIAN in the winners' circle again. I was starting to wonder if that tough 2yo campaign I laid out for her had squeezed the lemon dry. I know there's a lot of racing left in her now.”

When asked about future plans, taylormade was noncommittal. “I don't know at the moment... There are several graded races is four weeks and a big one in five, but it all will depend on how my filly responds.”

In any case, this filly will be tough to beat.
