The Dirty Shore is running this weekend in New Jersey and a special request was made to have this G3 race for 3-year olds covered. It’s a bit late where I am, so I apologize for the quick gunshot approach to the 6f race, but at least it’s been covered. Anyway, it is pouring rain in Jersey so the track is in a very sloppy condition.
1. Mummy’s Revenge 14-1
Has won last three in a row with career best speed of 102 in last. Makes 1st graded start. Colt may need a start at this level.
2. Auction This Day 12-1
Auction won debut grade race in April with speed of 103. Has gone soft since then. Needs a wake-up call.
3. All Brilliance 9-1
All Brilliance has performed well in non-grade stake level. Steps up to G3 level. Dangerous late speed and put in nice 2nd as 2-year old on good track. Worth a look.
4. Horus 9-1
Horus hasn’t cracked the 100-speed barrier yet but is 3 for 3 on slop. Can’t ignore one with that track record.
5. Drosophila 18-1
Speeds have been improving and has won last 3 races, however, were against smaller fields. Has one win in 4 tries against 10 or more. Drosophilia needs to notch his game up a bit to get upset.
6. Honorary Citizen 10-1
Won last 3 and hit speed of 100 last race. Moves up to graded and has won 5 of 7 career-wise. Citizen looks good but no proven wet track racing as of yet.
7. Rivah Gulch 10-1
Won last 3 allowance races but fell flat in non-graded race wedged within those races. Has tons of speed and will try to wire field. Drops a notch in distance which could provide needed edge.
8. Any Given Cat 8-1
Is 2-3-0 in 10 career graded starts. Last 5 graded starts are 0-1-0 and has been tiring late in races. Cat is making it hard to attract a lot of serious consideration lately.
9. Dickinson 5-1
Second choice is 1-0-1 on offtrack in 3 starts. Three of last four starts had speeds over 100. Got caught in traffic in last two. Could be in good spot if avoids trouble.
10. Unpegged 9-1
Set pace in last start and tired to 6th, but that was at 9f. Unpegged drops back down to 6f and should get much better trip. Worth tossing into exotic wagers.
11. Emerald Pro 7-1
Broke maiden on good track. Blew a 105 in last race win in non-grade stakes. Looks competitive on paper but has hit board only once in six grade starts. If last speed number is real, he could be dangerous.
12. Larrythestableguy 4-1
Larry won handily in March on slop with speed of 102 non-grade stake race. Missed by head in tight photo last time out to settle for 3rd in G2 race with explosive 109 speed rating. Three of last four were speeds above 100 with easy win in allowance at 1-10 being a conservative 91. Will be tough.
Larrythestaleguy gets the nod with impressive outing in last and R. Case (19% win) handling the reins.
Honorary Citizen has been sharp. If wet surface doesn’t bother him, expect a good outing.
Dickinson should show improved effort and get a piece of the pie for my 3rd pick.
My saver pick is to Horus who loves playing in the mud.
