Clerk of Scales stake race ended with the filly, You See LA, dominating the boys. The Middle Jewel winner punched her career earnings over the $1.8 million mark and scored her 7th win in 11 starts.
The field offered virtually no early speed and Trainer Cobrakai tried to take advantage of this situation by sending Keasby Knights to the front. Keasby couldn’t get away from the field as Killing Game ran a close up 2nd. . You See LA sat a comfy third with Deputy Bird in a good spot running forth.
Haack’s Hope, Prussian, Throw Down and Stygiophobia rounded out the field. It would turn out ironic that the trailing foursome would hold these positions and end the race in these very same positions.
As the field moved past the halfway marker, You See LA looked like she was on the highway to Los Angelos as she easily went by Keasby Knights. Killing Game moved up on the outside to also stride ahead of Keasby.
As the field turned into the stretch, You See LA rode the lead with Killing Game just over her shoulder. As they went into deep stretch You See LA pulled away and won by 4 ˝ lengths over Killing Game. Finishing third was Deputy Bird with Keasby Knights holding onto forth.
The exacta paid $42.00, and if you went with my game plan to box the top two (although I leaned towards You See LA as the top one) you received a nice payout.
Additionally, although I used Throw Down as my third pick, I also encouraged readers to use Deputy Bird in the triples. This strategy paid off with a $225.70 payday!!!
