RODOTs
Palatine's ironstable sent out last week's local bred winner on friday, a 4yo War Eagle mare named Desoto Jones. This girl has produced a solid return for her new owner, claimed at the end of May, with two wins and a second over the local strip. She faced little pressure last week, sent off as the 1/5 favorite, and cruised from just off the pace for an easy three length score under leading rider F Oxon.
Van Buren(IRE), a 5yo son of George Washington, also made a nice appearance friday with a smart wire to wire score at 7.5 over the turf course. This was the thirteenth trip to the winner's circle for Van Buren, and the second at the bayou track. Newcomer J R Golden was in the saddle.
SATURDAY
No stakes on saturday, but we did have an unconditioned allowance the brought in a top ten horse. Olwhisper's Proscurator(KY), a 5yo mare by Proud Citizen, was sent off as the 6/5 chalk in the field of seven, but would not have her way this time out. Snowchief's aak stable took home first place money with an impressive front running score by Blonde Ambition(KY). The 4yo Dixie Union mare was sent right to the front by jockey N Ashmore and, after shaking the early pressure of Liddsawesome(KY), coasted home for a two length win, covering the nine dirt panels in 1:48 4/5. Proscurator did make a furious stretch rally for the place spot and simply ran out of ground.
Saturday's local bred race, a $30k starter over the turf, was taken by Smokeglack's Freelikeaneagle. Claimed for $5k back in mid June, she was given a step up to a $50k claimer over the dirt before she was moved to the lawn last week, marking only her second attempt in 29 starts to try grass. She responded well, rating just off the slow early fractions to hit the wire just over two lengths in front of She's Tricky, with D Hogin guiding her home.
Several scored by daylight last week, including allowance wins by Winter Sun, Total Storm, and Blushing Gulch. Vinton Lioness posted the largest margin of victory with a 5 1/2 length win in a conditioned allowance. Salty Pepper also looked quite nice, never being threatened on the front end in a $75k claimer. Sportin Indy New'd gets the nod for the most impressive msw score, covering six grassy furlongs in 1:11 2/5 for the.......Npark Villas? Nice score.
No linked stables carded multiple wins last week. Jockey A Jolly had five trips to the winner's circle on saturday, with D Hogin and C Wall taking home three apiece.
