Ello me mates and welcome to the great continent of Australia. We are in the beautiful city of Victoria today, and expect some great racing. Down on the list of races today here in Victoria, we have The Deccabone Mitch Memorial, The Fischer Stakes, and the highlight of the day, The Champagne Memorial. This will be a race for 2 year olds only, and will go 8 furlongs on the firm turf. So if you are ready, let’s meet today’s young guns trying for that 350,000 dollar purse.
PP.1 De Lago Hit
Owner mickbriant will be sending this 2 year old colt out for his 2nd try on the turf. In his first three races, all on dirt, this guy won once while placing. He then made the switch to turf last time out, and had a little success, running a 73 SP, and earning 2nd place. SP’s have been consistent in the 70’s. De Lago Hit is an 8/1 shot in today’s race, and will get jockey S. Nightingale on his back. Nightingale has an 11.8 career winning percentage, with just under 1200 races.
PP.2 Sky Is Crying
Super25 will send out Sky Is Crying, another colt. In three races, this guy has hit the board all three times, with two wins. He started off his career winning a stakes race with a 68 SP. SP’s improved from there as he ran 2nd in a NW2X Allowance, running a 72 SP. He then proceeded to win another listed stakes with an 80 SP. All three races have been on turf, and they have all been sprints. R. Kowalkowski will get the ride on this 5/1 shot today. Kowalkowski owns an 8.9 career winning percentage in just over a thousand races.
PP.3 Chief Moeller II
Riding for the cbrady stable today, this young colt has only run twice in his short career. He started off on the good turf, running a 74 SP, and finishing 2nd. He then got the run on the firm turf, and the jets kicked on as he won with an 81 SP. Even though he has not run out of the MSW division yet, SP’s have been as high as some of out previous runners. Riding this 9/1 shot today is jockey N. Hartel. Hartel has just over 4700 races, and owns a career winning percentage of 12.4.
PP.4 Lincoln Navigator
Mtkdynasty already has hopes for this young gun, as he has run twice with great results. In his first race, a MSW at 6 furlongs on the turf, he ran a 75 SP while leading all the way to his first win. The 2nd race, a Grade III proved to be a little tougher, and he ended up 2nd with an 82 SP. This horse has proven he can run with the lead, or sit back so far off of it. Riding this colt today will be jockey D. Dowell. Dowell owns a career winning percentage of 16.5, and has just under 1000 races under his belt. Lincoln Navigator is a 9/2 shot in today’s race.
PP.5 Gizmolington
This colt out of the skirom stable will try to take his 3rd race of the year here in Victoria today. He currently has 4 races under his belt with decent results. He won his MSW opener with ease, and came back 5 weeks later to win a listed stakes. After a little break, he ran in another listed stakes, this time taking 4th. Once again about five weeks later he came back to run an 82 SP in a 2nd place Grade II effort. SP’s have been on the rise, and skirom will hope they continue to rise in today’s race. M. Zerr will get the ride aboard this 8/1 shot. Zerr owns a career winning percentage of 9.5 percent, with just under 1200 races.
PP.6 Bad Blake
Gregchilds sends this young gun out, who has not missed the board in three tries. His first race came on the dirt where he ran a 74 SP in a 3rd place finish. He then made the switch to turf taking the liking to the grass and running an 82 SP, but once again coming in third. The next race, a listed stakes proved to be an easy win for this boy as he ran a 79 SP and took first. Gregchilds will put his faith in jockey R. Bailey. Bailey owns a 13.5 career winning percentage with just under 1800 races. Bad Blake enters the morning line at 4/1.
PP.7 Mrs. Iacocca
This young colt out of the mares2010 stable has run three times, and looks to be a tough contender in today’s race. His first two races were both restricted to members of the URC residence. He won both the MSW, and the Allowance running SP’s of 72 and 84. His third race, an open Grade II proved to be a bit of a bigger task, and he took third though he ran an 82 SP. J. Cox will get the ride on this 6/1 shot today. Cox owns a career winning percentage of 18.3 with just over 1000 races under his belt.
PP.8 Cold Picture
Springtime will send this colt out into his 4th career race. He has won 2 out of his first three though, taking 2nd in his opener. In his second career race, he ran first in a MSW race, and came back to take a NW2L Allowance race. SP’s though not high have been on the rise, as he ran a 78 SP last time out. The long shot today, though he is only at 14/1, will be ridden by jockey J. Kohlmorgen. Kohlmorgen owns a career winning percentage of 14.4 with just over 4100 races.
PP.9 The Seven Seas
Last, but not least, we have this colt out of the super1 stable. He will be going for only his 2nd win in five tries, though he has placed 2nd three times. His first race, a MSW, he won running an SP of 76. In the listed stakes that followed, he ran a 74 SP placing 2nd. Two second places followed that one in a listed stakes and a Grade II. He ran SP’s of 82 and 83 in those races. This boy will get jockey D. Evans today. Evans has just over 7100 races with a 23.5 winning percentage
So that rounds out our field of nine horses today. It looks to be a great race, and we have a lot of boys trying their first crack at a mile race, so don’t be surprised if there are some upsets in this race. It is very tough to chose and pick a two year old race, but if you were to ask me what horses to take, my top three in no particular order would be 4, 7, and 9. Although I think every horse may have a shot today. Remember folks for all of your sim racing articles, head on over to the Black Type Bugler and check us out.
