A classy and very even field of Turf Sprinters will contest the Grade One MGD Special on Saturday. It includes three of the top ten ranked sprinters in Super Risk 7^th , In My Blood 4^th and Highside 3^rd. In My Blood and Highside will go around as equal top picks however I like the 11 Appropriately a 7/1 chance. Here is a rundown of the full field.

Had won three in a row finishing with stakes race the Once Wylde Special at New Jersey before second in same class in The Omerta Code Memorial. Unplaced only once in 17 start career.

Won Stakes race The Gal For Lassos in Taiwan but did beat much that day, was followed by a good third in the Grade Two Len Knocks over seven furlongs. Grade One winner as a two year old who has been there or thereabout in recent efforts. Will be well ridden by W Moss.

Followed runners up effort at Kentucky in the Grade Three Calgon Turf Sprint over five furlongs with a third in Japan in same class in the CBC Sprint in slightly longer six furlongs race. Has been placed in Grade One level.

Great effort in the Grade One Strand Broke in Victoria was followed by a disappointing seventh at Grade Three level here in The Orange Tree. If returns to Victoria effort will be right in the finish.

Has won last three races in Allowance class Maryland, Nebraska and Texas returning SP’s of 108. May find these a bit quick.

PP 6 IN MY BLOOD(IRE) 5/1

Good win when odds on favourite in the Grade Two Rising Sun Spring Cup at Japan over seven furlongs was followed by a slightly disappointing effort over six furlongs at Berkshire. Has a great winning record with 10 wins from 19 starts and has won at Top Level in the Teleprompter Cap in New Zealand five starts back. Will be well ridden by R Truitt.

PP 7 GONE BONKERS(KY) 6/1

Last two starts have been at Grade Three level with a third placing in Paris over seven furlongs before an easy win over the short trip of five furlongs in the Boone’s Farm Sprint at Berkshire. Has only started once at this level for an unplaced effort.

Returned best ever SP of 112 at latest start which was a good win at Ontario in the Grade Three Highlander over six furlongs. Improving type who will run well here.

Good win at Japan in the Grade Three CBC Sprint beating home Leozig was followed by a sixth at Newmarket in the Grade One Cup of July when outclassed. Similar field here so may be found wanting again.

PP 10 HIGHSIDE(IRE) 5/1

5YH by High Chaparral(Ire) 37 starts 12-4-9 $1,458,337 (firfight)

Has been racing well in Grade One class with a fourth in The Strand Broke in Victoria followed by a third in The Cup of July at Newmarket. Is a Grade One winner who should run well here. Will be well ridden by Deaville’s top hoop in J Stivers.

Former Grade One winner at three who has been racing in good form lately. At last two starts scored a second placing in Grade Three The Cliff Claven in Paris and a last start win in similar class here in The Orange Tree over six furlongs. Will be well ridden by R Wilkinsonbro.
