#1
heavenly awesome            lupul barn                             d givins                       8/1

The only Canadian in the field in a race named for her country. Comes in well rested, having not raced since early December. Has lots of experience in stakes races with eight of sixteen starts being at that level including four victories. She will compete here today but may fall short of finishing in the money.

#2
jess killin time                      phillipj barn                          a jolly                         5/1

Has finished in the money in all eleven of her starts with last five starts all being stakes races where she won once and finished second four times. This daughter of Awesome Again is an impressive filly and should be in the mix today and keep her streak going.

#3
american fate tb                testbarn10 barn                        t ace                          8/1

This daughter of American Pharoah is off to an impressive start to her career and should pass 1 million in career earnings at this start. Winner of six including a Grade 1 and previous Grade 2 stakes. Expect her to be a factor here out of the three hole.

#4
off the clock                         nepenthe9 barn                       r radzinski                21/1

Last raced on Christmas Day finishing third in her final race as a three year old. Taking a big jump here to Grade 2 Stakes considering she has not finished higher than seventh in three previous stakes races and has yet to reach speed numbers of one-hundred or greater. Not ready to compete here just yet.

#5
council of lords                   xpansion9 barn                       j white                        5/1

Had an impressive Grade 1 victory back in September at this same distance. Has finished outside the money since that date so comes in hungry. Also knocking on that million dollar career earnings door and should achieve that goal today.

#6
hench mast                          perdido7 barn                            g owans                    47/1

Coming off an easy wire to wire win in her last start, the first race of her young career where she recorded speed numbers over one-hundred. Has not responded well to extra distance in the past, usually getting off to a great start before fading at the end. Taking too big of a jump to compete here.

#7
hey run run run                   graywolf3 barn                      ic gordon                  18/1

Came from well back to win at an allowance race at this distance just twenty-one days ago. Like her stable mate just take a shot, she has been worked often and might show more consistent speed with more of a breather between starts. I do not think she will be a factor today.

#8
so you ollie                          rug barn                                     n lawton                    34/1

Comes in well rested after an eighth place finish in her last start back in December at eight and a half furlongs. Has yet to post her first three digit speed number and will need that speed to compete here. Should be able to handle the distance but I am unclear of the sudden surface change to dirt for the first time against a strong field like this.

#9
just take a shot                   graywolf33 barn                    m staples                  8/1

Fought hard in her last start to come from way back to grab a fourth place finish. Has not had more than three weeks rest since early August which concerns me a little. I would be inclined to give her an extra week off before coming in to face this competitive field.

#10
pallas athena                       waremblem6 barn               o a haack                  8/1

The most consistent of entries in the race having finished in the money in all but one of her twelve starts. Being brought back with just over one month’s rest after an easy win in an allowance race early in the year. Definitely seems like a force to be reckoned with.

#11
outback alpha                     outback5 barn                      g scott                       10/1

Had a stretch of three consecutive wins that started in August that lead to a jump to a Grade 3 start at the “Exit Stage Left” where she ran middle of the pack from wire to wire. She may be overmatched here as he jumps up to Grade 2 for the first time.

#12
unworldly noise                  jbcri47 barn                          l radzinski               10/1

Has been competing in allowances races in the past while alternating wins and runner up finishes in her last four starts. Speed rating has been consistently over one-hundred during that time period but she doesn’t seem to quite be on the same level as this group just yet. She may win at this level sometime in the future but I am not betting on her today.

#13
my madelaine                    urccoolmore barn               f gossett                    6/1

Comes in well rested after a tough start in early December where she was not a factor. Started career finishing in the money in six consecutive starts but is still looking for the winners circle in a Stakes or Grades Stakes race. The speed ratings in her last four starts were strong and I look for that trend to continue today as she competes out of the thirteen hole.

#14
mt. airy                                  wyndaway11 barn              g giaint                      19/1

Coming off a nice win in her last race as a three year old where she won by a nose. Finished third at the Wilted Petal Grade 2 Stakes in October but at a shorter distance. Has never raced at this length before with all but one of her starts being less than a mile, so I am interested to see how she responds against this field.

  1. Whoa, you picked my horses 2nd place finish. Nice handicapping. It is a pain to lose running a 118 but its better than finishing second to last I suppose.
