Dubai Sheema Classic

Race unfolded as I anticipated and ran true to form. Speed duel developed between Galaxy King, Sealandia Sava and Baby Moohaa and for all intents and purposes this was the race. Class and experience of Sealandia Sava shined through and carried him to the wire. Baby Moohaa ran a terrific and was able to take 2nd well clear of closing Ragnarokkr who put his name into the trifecta with a non-threatening third. Established 12 furlong horses Irish Snowdrop and Sadira picked up checks for 4th and 5th. Top 4 finishers all learned something, Sava still has the juice, Moohaa is primed for stakes competition while Galaxy and Ragnarokkr honed in upon their preferred distances, longer and shorter respectively.

Godolphin Mile

Fastest race of the day saw winner Matanarr post an eye popping 118 SP while going gate to wire completing the eight furlongs in a sizzling 1:33.43. Perhaps even more impressively Matanarr took the field from heated fractions of :22 1/2 and :45 1/4. Incredible, defining performance for the son of First Defense who know has 7 wins from 11 starts and is one to watch. Cayman Jack and Tap it Mambo filled in the place and show spots but the story, and performance of the day was all Matanarr.

Al Quoz Spring

Flying my colors Tattoo Artist picked up his first stakes covering the six furlong turf sprint in a 110 SP. With the win Tattoo Artist becomes the second stakes winner in the SIM for sire Fast Anna. He sat in last deep in the race still trailing the field at the 4 1/2 furlong mark then unleashed an electric rally which carried him to the wire as jockey Zeus weaved his way through traffic. Tattoo Artist passed stalker Ghaurair and pace setter Gripped was able to hold on for third.

Dubai World Cup

Zeus also had the winning ride in the World Cup as a trio of longshots hit took the top three positions blowing up the trifecta to the tune of $6,272.40. Not bad for a $2 wager. Often debated SIM sire Candy Ride was sweet today as son Nomads came from well back to take the day’s premier race. Only his third lifetime win, Nomads could be primed for a big 4yo season. Taking the lead coming for home it looked like Dalanisi had a clear shot at victory but Nomads momentum couldn’t be stopped. My Tapit Huntsilver took the show spot finding the 10 furlongs perhaps a bit beyond his reach.
